I don't think it should ever end. The beauty of Who is that, while the theme pretty much stays the same, the actors can change over time giving it a fresh perspective. Different relationships, different scenarios, different story arcs can be integrated over time. Integral to all of this is that the Doctor can change personalities, uniquely rebooting the show, simultaneously maintaining show continuity unlike any other show.

I don't mind a season break every now and then, like the 10th Doctor year-long specials post-Journey's End. Just keep the Doctor British-centric, though different races should be used from time to time. Perhaps a female Doctor, though not as important. Bring back K-9 now that Sara Jane is passed (way too young!!).

Plot Summary: The Doctor ends up back in time on the planet Gallifrey during the dark times. An outside influence is set on altering the course of Gallifreyan history and sabotaging Omega, Rassilon and The Other's attempts to harness the power of the blackhole in order to make time travel a reality. As the expanded universe has suggested, 'The Other' is in fact a very young form of the Doctor in some regard. The Doctor must work behind the scenes in order to ensure that Time Lord history takes its proper course and his younger self is succesful in working with Rassilon and Omega. The climax would ultimately involve the Doctor sacrificing himself so that his younger form could triumph.
I like that idea, personally, I think it should be an epic battle, a contest between Fenric and the Doctor, where we see the Doctor doing what his seventh incarnation did best. Basically ‘the Other’ is the Doctor and he from the Matix before being reloomed manipulated the whole of Gallifreyan history to bring about a final battle against Fenric which would end in Fenric’s complete defeat, upon casting the winning move, killing Fenric, he falls down on the ruins of the board where the battle took place, which we know see if the ruins of Gallifrey. Romana, Brax, Narvin, Leela and Ace arrive and the Doctor finds out that Fenric saved Gallifrey to try and bargain with the Doctor, the five then take him deep underneath the citadel to the central Loom where Ace and the Doctor cast themselves in so they can be reloomed in Gallifrey’s future for new adventures.
Thus allowing an end to the series and a method to bring it back without a reboot, it will simply be the reloomed incarnation
