If Doctor Who was to end on the 50th Anniversary how would you end the show?

As per the title how would you end the longest running scifi TV series?

I had this idea and it may sound a whole bunch corny and daft but I thought it was really cool.

The Doctor realises by the end of the episode that he's in fact a fictitious character.. I think Matt Smith could pull this off brilliantly. And he realises that he's in fact part of some kind of entertainment / software / whatever.... That would just to me be unique..

    Onto the rest of you.

How would you end the series?

We'll i guess it leaves it open but i think it won't end until the doctor has run out of regenerations even then it will probably get rebooted or something

Personally i hope it keeps going for a little while longer

Don't think it will end any time soon, I know the bbc has no intention of ending it, but if it was going to, I'd like to see the doc get pulled into into the time locked 'last time war' with no possibility of getting out.

I'd say end it with the Doctor heading off to his next adventure.

Doctor who should always end with the open possibility of it being brought back some day.

An epic episode in which 11 is killed in the first 5 minutes, 12's arrival is shadowed by the Valeyard, who spends most of the story trying to kill 12, and when he actually succeeds, the Doctor regenerates into his final body - with Johnny Depp in the role.

Depp then takes over as the Movie Doctor.

After 3 or so movies over 6-9 years, the franchise is wound up, having earned the BBC many millions of dollars.

In 2030, my son convinces the BBC that Doctor Who really should come back, and resurrects the show with a cameo by Depp (by then 67 years old - as old as the show itself, in fact), who appears as an elderly Doctor, being pursued by the Daleks across Time and Space in his rackety old TARDIS. They exterminate him... bringing him to the end of his 13th life...

But in a blaze he regenerates again, into some actor we've never heard of, but just somehow is perfect for the role...

I further added to my idea .....See if you like this.

The Doctor realises by the end of the episode that he's in fact a fictitious character.. And he realises that he's in fact part of some kind of entertainment / software / program / whatever....

Only he steps out into the real world... I think Matt Smith could pull this off brilliantly.

Add to that when he comes into our world he brings all the stuff from there with him including hostile aliens........ So all the fictitious aliens of Dr. Who become real... And they want blood.

If/when the end comes for the Doctor, I'd love for him to find a way to end up in the Library database that the 10th Doctor uploaded River's consciousness into (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead episodes). Then his consciousness could live on with her in the virtual world created by the Library computer.

If the Doctor were to find out he were fictional, it would have to, IMO, tie back to The Mind Robber...

    In an unrelated story idea...

The Doctor and companion/s end up in the Land of Fiction again, only to discover a shadow of his former self has taken over from the previous "Master" (of the Land of Fiction), and has populated it with Daleks and Cybermen and Quarks and Yeti etc etc etc... The Doctor must battle his own "dark" 2nd incarnation to save himself and his companion/s, and bring an end to the Land of Fiction once and for all...

(Intended to use archival footage, and probably David Troughton to provide some additional dialogue as needed)

Personally, I'd like a feature length episode in the vein of SG1's Moebius.

Plot Summary: The Doctor ends up back in time on the planet Gallifrey during the dark times. An outside influence is set on altering the course of Gallifreyan history and sabotaging Omega, Rassilon and The Other's attempts to harness the power of the blackhole in order to make time travel a reality. As the expanded universe has suggested, 'The Other' is in fact a very young form of the Doctor in some regard. The Doctor must work behind the scenes in order to ensure that Time Lord history takes its proper course and his younger self is succesful in working with Rassilon and Omega. The climax would ultimately involve the Doctor sacrificing himself so that his younger form could triumph.

In "The Deadly Assassin", it was established that a Time Lord can regenerate 12 times... thus have 13 lives.

This is reinforced various times in the classic series thereafter, but to date has been ignored by the new series. Indeed, in the Sarah Jane series, the Doctor says he can regenerate 500 and something times. He was however joking.

If you were watching the episodes "The rebel flesh" and "the almost people" in the last series of Dr Who you will know the gangers are those duplicates of people made from this white goo that is in fact living material, and sentient.
