Default Doctor Who at the Olympics..........

Anyone know if anything related to Doctor Who will be in the Olympics parade as a british icon? I heard that they are having James Bond light the flame so why not some Doctor Who?

Apparently unless it's some sick joke.....

I read they were making a special short film in Buckingham Palace for the opening involving Daniel Craig as James Bond and then he the actor would parachute into the stadium in character to do the honours.

Best bit in "Fear Her", would be pretty nifty if that actually happened.

Can't find a good enough clip of it.

    What a show !

Sounds unlikely - Bond is a commercial (copyrighted) property, and I can't see the Olympics people wanting to taint their opening ceremony with commercialism. Same way you won't see the torch bearers wearing great big Nike T-shirts etc (or political ones, either).

Wonder if he got to keep the torch he carried...

If I recall here in Oz for the 2000, they sold replicas to the public, but not sure what happened to the real ones that were used along the way.

The "public" torch bearers were able to buy the torches for UKP199, if they chose to. They cost UKP495 to make, apparently. There has been some "fuss" in the press etc because many of the bearers have put theirs on eBay (some before they'd even run). However, since most of the bearers are nominated for charitable achievements, and they were largely selling them to make more money for their charities, I personally can't see the problem. However, Matt comes under their "celebrities and sportspeople" section of bearers - it's unclear whether they were being given the same chance to purchase a torch.

It would have been funny to see the flame go out and him restart it with the Sonic Screwdriver.

What would you get if Amy Pond went alternative or goth?

I pondered this question and together with a model friend we did our version of this.

That's a question I ask myself almost daily.

Then I wake up in a cold sweat thanking dog that she's filmed her last Who...

I would love to see the song "Song of Freedom" be part of the Olympic music selection.

Here is my dedication to that thought...

Have we all remembered that RIGHT AT THIS MINUTE the Tenth Doctor and Rose are sorting out an Isolus pod in Dame Kelly Holmes Close, Somewhere in London? Quick! See if we can find him!

(Yeah, I know it was a sh**ty episode but still, it's fun to think about it )

There was that mad musical number about the boy and girl.... During the random inclusions of various British things you did hear the TARDIS engines for all of 5 seconds.......That's it. And I did say James Bond would be involved. I seriously thought that was an internet joke... Bond and no Doctor Who SACRILLIGE..........

Did like the fake queen jumping out the helicopter.

The flame was lite by hundreds of petals that rose up and joined together to make a flame. Just watched the whole ceremony. Woke up 5am my time and it finished at 9am
