Wiping out other peoples debt and wanting a nice home to live in is selfish? Come on.![]()
I'd wipe my own debt out.. but my family?? Not so sure.
So if we bad mouth it enough....?? Lol, I would prefer something "watchable" not interactive, I'd settle for an animated show... how about an animated continuation of SGU with as many of the actors as possible?
Stargate games only do one thing (well 2 things really) get built up/hyped/get core fan x cited... then sucks or gets cancelled half way through development.
I just want a new show![]()
They Say He Travels The Gate Network Searching The Universe For Powerful Technology, They Call Him...... The Gate Traveller
ok... i win powerball... I'll buy the Destiny/Atlantis/Gateroom sets and connect them together somehow so I can be there all the time and imagine... "what was it like?"

It does seem that all the games do is disappoint.
I think the only way Stargate will return to the TV is if Dean Devlin gets his wish fulfilled. He has mentioned several times of a plan to finish the original Stargate trilogy that he and Roland Emmerich planned(which was replaced by Independence Day). But I guess he's not gonna get Spader and Kurt back.

Well, the two don't exactly fit in the role anymore, it's been years(on the other hand, they might set the film many years later). Emmerich hasn't commented as far as I know but Devlin is clearly interested(and so am I).

I believe Devlin actually said the opposite. He'd always envisioned that the movie would be set 12 years after the first, and they would have had to artificially age the actors.
How does a movie that ignores the TV saga get it back on TV? If anything, it would lead to more theatrical films, not another TV series set in Brad Wright's world. If it did lead to a TV show, it'll be one based on Devlin's movie which will ignore Wright's TV saga. Further, I don't believe there were ever plans for sequels. The movie ended with, "The End." Have the Emmerich-Devlin duo ever done a sequel to one of their movies? As for James Spader, in the audio commentary, it's said he hated the script and only did it for the money. Don't expect him to reprise his role in Stargate 2 unless they're going to give him a Tom Cruise grade paycheck.
Let me guess, this was said back in 2006?![]()
Totally agree with you. I think Stargate is much safer in Brad Wright's hands because he is less concerned about money, and more focused on the entertainment value to Stargate fans around the world.
That being said, the more that the franchise is based around what most Stargate fans want - the more money the television shows/movies will make. And I would be more than happy to pay for a DVD movie or DVD boxset (or even a ticket to a feature film). Anything is possible folks!
Say WHAT now??
The *only* thing that even *remotely* gives me hope with the future of SG *as a property, not any of the 3 existing shows*, is this "apparent" draconian stance on fan produced/marketed use of the property. To *me* that indicates that *someone* in MGM is paying attention. That being said, the more that the franchise is based around what most Stargate fans want - the more money the television shows/movies will make. In April 2009, MGM confirmed a third new SG-1 film that Brad Wright had first announced in May 2008. Joseph Mallozzi revealed the working title as Stargate: Revolution. The film was planned to be written by Wright and former Stargate Atlantis executive producer Carl Binder. Martin Wood would serve as director. The premise of the film would have been the "possibility of the Stargate program going public". According to Wright, the film would center on the Jack O'Neill character and would reunite as many of the SG-1 cast as possible, depending on the cost of the film and actor availability. The character of Vala Mal Doran would not appear in the film. Amanda Tapping confirmed her appearance in this SG-1 film and the first Atlantis movie in September 2008, and Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) confirmed his and Richard Dean Anderson's participation in January 2009. No contracts had been signed by April 2009, but Wright stated that he "can almost guarantee we are proceeding with the SG-1 movie this year [2009]". Nevertheless, production was put on hold.

Wright and Joe Mallozzi expressed optimism that production would eventually start, until Wright announced in April 2011 that the SG-1 film project was permanently shelved, along with plans for future Atlantis and Stargate Universe films and a cross-over film incorporating elements from all three series. By then, neither the Atlantis nor Universe television series were produced anymore. Still, Wright did not rule out future Stargate films, saying; "It's a franchise. Stargate is not over. Somebody smart from MGM is going to figure it out, and something will happen."

It is just my opinion, not a fact.
I agree to a certain extent.
I wonder if anyone in the higher echelons of MGM is paying attention. Would be nice to see some new Stargate stuff on our screens.
I am optimistic that there are intelligent people at MGM.
We can never know Brad Wright's intentions.
If we have no knowledge of a Stargate movie/TV show in pre-production this year - I'm going to leave the Stargate franchise alone and do something better with my time.
No point in the fans marketing something that is very unlikely to come into fruition.
