McKay While most of the episodes of Sg-1 were amazingly awesome, what was the worst episode?

While being in the rewatch of the series and almost done i reviewed the series and found this the worst episode in the series. For me the worst episode of all time of SG-1 was season 2's One false Step. The complete story and aliens were incredibly boring and stupid. The most complete waste of an hour of my life and I will never watch it again. Although I do know where to go now if i ever need to get bored. It was slow, stupid concept that was just not fun. Written by Michael Kaplan and Jan Sanbourn its not question why they got kicked out that was a terrible episode and for me marked the terrible dot in the series that every series has. Directed by Bill Corcoran he only wrote this incredibly shamful episode and the good episode Seth with the goa'uld Setesh which i liked. But with these two only i guess it couldnt keep him going on SG-1.

Unending was pretty bad, IMHO. I wasn't a fan of 200 or Wormhole X-Treme either.

BTW this is post #1,234 for me. Interesting.

"Americans are considered crazy anywhere in the world.
They will usually concede a basis for the accusation but point to California as the focus of the infection. Californians stoutly maintain that their bad reputation is derived solely from the acts of the inhabitants of Los Angeles County. Angelenos will, when pressed, admit the charge but explain hastily, 'It's Hollywood. It's not our fault, we didn't ask for it; Hollywood just grew.'
The people in Hollywood don't care; they glory in it. If you are interested, they will drive you up Laurel Canyon 'where we keep the violent cases.' The Canyonites — the brown-legged women, the trunks-clad men constantly busy building and rebuilding their slap-happy unfinished houses — regard with faint contempt the dull creatures who live down in the flats, and treasure in their hearts the secret knowledge that they, and only they, know how to live."

    I don't usually complain about SG-1 epsiodes.

But I have to say that Season 8's finale 'Moebius' was for me a poor episode. It appeared, to my eyes, to be rushed. And tried to squeeze to much into the epsiode.

I completely agree on this one. It is the only episode that I have skipped on any rewatch of the series (I tend to skip it on all of them). I also am not a huge fan of Emancipation from S1. Come to think of it, Bane and Spirits are also not well liked by me, so S2 has three eps. I think you have to go all the way to S6 before there's another iffy ep in Sight Unseen.

But One False Step is definitely my least favorite. And, frankly, there's no cringe inducing full episode in the entire series (in fact, in any episode of the Stargate franchise). There are moments and there are plot lines that I think fell flat, but I think it compares well to Star Trek in that every series in that franchise (other than DS9, IMHO) had some horrible episodes. TNG takes the cake for that in its first two seasons before really hitting its stride in S3. SG-1 did pretty well to hit the ground running.

For me, the worst episode (for overall lack of any story) is 1x20 Politics (the clip show). I could handle most of the clip shows from other seasons, but this one I never rewatch. Seeing it once was one time too many.

If we're talking "least favorite" episodes - then mine are 9x02-9x05. No Carter, no need for me to watch. Ever. (and I still haven't)

I actually kind of like One False Step - just because there's a lot of Dr Fraiser.

    Some of the worst, IMO....

Family -- Great in concept, but absolutely horrific in execution in no small part because of the horrendous performances by Teal'c's wife and son.

Prodigy -- Jennifer Hailey is one of the most annoying characters I've ever had the misfortune of watching

Sight Unseen -- Oh boy. Neon transdimensional bugs. Chills.

Lifeboat -- I really hate the "look at me, I'm an actor!" episodes that Shanks got after he came back

Birthright -- Another one that's great in concept but just terrible in execution. Instead of coming across as intended--a group of victims taking control of their own destiny--the female Jaffa just came across as a group of stereotypical angry lesbians

Avatar -- Example #485934589 of why TV shows should never try to show what video games look like

Moebius -- Besides being 2 hours of boring, it was just a terrible way to end classic SG-1. I would not have cared in the least if the season had been only 18 episodes long, if it had ended on Reckoning/Threads. Instead it was a 2h snoozer that arguably deleted the SG-1 team we know from the canon, and ultimately only served to provide a plot point for the Atlantis season 1 finale. Lame, guys. Very lame.

Collateral Damage -- Yeah, because I haven't seen this exact story played out in a dozen other sci fi series before. With exactly the same plot points, and ultimate reveal of innocence. Nope, this one was completely original

I think the only episode I truly disliked and almost never watch is Emancipation.
Btw, I agree about Collateral Damage, there was an almost exact episode at Star Trek: Voyager.

Wasn't the footage of a game from that made from the actual game they were developing at the time?

I wouldn't write off that episode just for the brief video game sections that are tiny compared to over run time. For me, that's actually a very strong Teal'c episode. One that is about him rather than Jaffa Traditions. (or his love life. Or both. I'm looking at you cross roads/)

For my least favourite there has to be Emancipation. Which is boring and very heavy handed with its message. And the season 2 finale because clip shows do not make epic finales.

Though it was not up to the par of other eps, i would not put it in the worst category.

You must be annoyed a lot then.. I loved her character and wish they would have had more of her showing up..

Agreed. Added little to season 6...

In a sense.. i agree. but it still furthered the plot.

True, they could have found a better way to show us getting the ZPM that saved the day for atlantis..

    My list..
    SG1
S1 - Emancipation is the only one here, though Brief candle is a close 2nd, as iirc they never went back to WHICH gou'ald was the one using that planet.. and should have..
S2 - Bane and one false step here..
None i am seeing for S3 or S4 though Entity might be up there..
    S5 has none
S6 nightwalkers might be on a list for worst as we never got to see any ramifications of this.. What did happen to the citizens of that town? What of the ship they built??
    Sight unseen (you already mentioned..
Space race is the only one i can think of that MIGHT be bad for S7
The scourge for S9 and Family ties for S10..

I endured Empancipation for the sake of the Re-Watch but won't watch it again. :-)

Avenger 2.0 - WILL NEVER WATCH AGAIN IN MY LIFE...*shudders*..

    Closely followed by

The Other Guys and Family Ties

All of these because the humour was crass and puerile imho...

And the one in season 6 where Jonas' old mentor lost his marbles...dear god that was boring..

And Menace - but not because it's a dreadful episode, it's an amazing episode, but it hurts me so much to see the deterioration of the Jack and Daniel friendship that I cannot bear to watch it any more..

Every time I do a rewatch, I completely skip "Need" and "Collateral Damage". Can't stand either one of them.

Emancipation. I was going to say "every time" but "never again" would be better...

Never understood the "Emanicpation" hate...a very nice little episode.

The Ultimate Amazingly Awesome award has to go to "Heroes".

The "ugh" award would be the dimensional bugs and 99.99% of the Lucien Allliance eps.

Gemini. Horrible episode. It's been a long time since I've watched it so I don't remember a lot of it, but I do remember being infuriated by how stupid everyone in the episode had to be to allow Replicarter's plan to work.

Prodigy was quite bad and I'm not a fan of the Tealc episode where the whole Firemanverse comes into play (I can't remember the name of it).

Same here. Loved the Shankster in this one.

Hated Emancipation all the way home. It was like being forcefed a morality tale ten years too late, and way overcooked.

Emancipation...My first watch of it I didn't really care all that much, but later on I thought "Wow...that was terrible"

Loathed Prodigy too...forgot all about that one and "Little Miss Perfectly Irritating" Cadet Hailey......

Firemanverse episode was "the Changeling" and is good for the fact that Daniel returns and is awesome as always sticking with Teal'c through it all and Jack looks hot as a Fire Chief....the rest is a bit meh...
