All I'd have done is end SG-1 with 'Full Circle' and do 'Lost City' as a movie.
SGA ended fine.

Why end SG-1 as far back as "Full Circle?" Granted, had it ended there, I will admit that "Lost City" would have made an awesome movie. If memory serves me right, the plan was for that to be a theatrical movie rather than the direct-to-DVD affair that eventually happened. If it had to end with an earlier season finale, why not "Moebius?"
Because,
a) I liked the 'Full Circle' nature of 'Full Circle'.
b) Lost City was the PERFECT ending and jumping off point for SGA.
c) I hate Series 7 (bar Lost City) I find the episodes dull and uninteresting.
d) Series 8 was not much better (bar Full Alert) and though the IDEA of Moebius was beautiful, it's execution was shocking.
For me, if I COULD, I would end SG1 at it's best. It wasn't until S9 that I started enjoying the show properly again, and for me that was because it was a totally different series, frankly.
Fair enough, I can agree with this point of view.
Could you cite a few examples? Overall, I found the seventh season to be very fun to watch. Some of my favorite episodes were the "Evolution" two-parter along with "Chimera."
What about "New Order," "Reckoning," and "Threads?" What was so bad about "Moebius?"
Fair enough. In terms of season finales, I think most people would agree that "Full Circle," "Lost City," and "Moebius" could have worked as series finales. I'm leaving out "Revelations," because it just lacked finality.
For me, the show got better and better right up to the end of classic SG-1. After "Moebius," it was all down hill. I hated Mitchell's backstory, I hated that O'Neill left off screen, where's Carter, and... there was just too many changes all at once. I went in, feeling like I had missed numerous key transition episodes. I knew I hadn't, but I still felt that way. Yeah, yeah, they were trying to make the show new again, but there could have been more of a transition. O'Neill's cameos in "Avalon, Part 1" and "Origin" were pitiful. Not his acting, but that he was there mere cameos instead of full guest appearances. It didn't feel like "SG-1" again until "Beachhead," the episode where Carter returned. I don't mind a changing cast, but I usually stop watching a show when more than half of the original cast is gone. Atlantis was pushing it, but it was tolerable as the new characters were mostly played by actors I had seen on other shows. Tapping reprised "Carter" from SG-1, Picardo played "The Doctor" on Star Trek: Voyager, Jewel Staite played "Kaylee" on Firefly, and Ronon was simply far more interesting than Ford.

Once again, dull and dull - I kinda liked Jackson going all archeological again, but felt that far too much of the story in Evolution was focused on the boring Super Soldiers, and frankly - I really don't think Shanks was on form. And as for Chimera - I loath Pete with a vengeance, and what he makes Carter into.
Boring and boring. I can't stand Human Form Replicators. In fact, I can't stand replicators past S6. Don't get me wrong, there were moments, loved the dialling the gates all at once bit, but still. I *will* yield on 'Threads', but that's it.
'Moebius'? Where do I begin? Great idea, sending SG1 back to Ancient Egypt and bringing everything full circle to the movie and Ra. Brilliant. What don't I like? The massive skip forward after the plan goes wrong to alternate SG1s. I did not care for the alternate team rediscovering the gate and basically being UNBELIEVABLE. I mean, it felt like they were playing cartoon characters, not real people... then when they actually went back in time to fix everything, I was expecting a grand rebellion plan. Nope. Not at all. It was lousy. Moebius would have worked MUCH better if original SG1 and gone back to the future, found they'd screwed up and had to once again go back in time (sorta like Continuum) and sort things out - actively leading a big ass rebellion on Ra and kicking him off the planet. That's what 'Moebius' should have been.
Yep - different show. I enjoy it for what it is. Personally, I'd prefer it if it was labelled as 'Stargate Command' not SG1... but still, I actually love the Ori plot, if, indeed, I do dislike Vala. I think 9-AoT is POOR Sg1, but still pretty good sci-fi, where as for me, S7 & 8 was poor Sci-fi and SG1.
