Time travel and parallel universe stories are my favorite staple sci-fi stories in any franchise! Most of my favorite Stargate episodes involve some form of time travel or a parallel universe/alternate timeline.

Irrelevant. You're missing the point. If one underling can steal that kind of information, who's to say Todd didn't have more to be stolen by the other underling in the finale such as Earth's coordinates?
I meant type out a sentence, not quote one. You said, "No, no, no," but that might as well simply be, "No." No to simplicity? No to what, exactly? I'm not a telepath. Type something out, please.
I haven't seen the episode in ages. Thanks.
I don't think you understand my post. I wasn't stating what happened in the episode. Rather, I was stating what would have been simpler and more sensible. Further, the quote where you say, "No, no, no," and then explain that they got the message was taken out of context. What I had said was...
"Are we forgetting "Midway" and Todd's underlings betraying him and stealing information he stole from Atlantis? Who's to say he didn't also have Earth's coordinates? When his underling steals the ZPM hive, he guns it for Earth. Much simpler than a message from a parallel reality, no?"
Read the whole thing. I was stating what should have happened, not what did happen. What's so bad about my approach? It makes a whole lot more sense than a signal being accidentally transmitted from a parallel world.![]()
when in midway?
Sheppard seemingly made a friend with a Wraith, later named Todd, in the third season episode "Common Ground." He returned as a potential ally in the fourth season. He sought out Atlantis's help in fighting the Asurans in "The Seer." In "Miller's Crossing," he helped Dr. McKay save his sister from nanites gone wrong. He was released to his people in "Be All My Sins Remember'd" so a final showdown with the Asurans could be organized. Now we skip forward to "Midway," an episode featuring Teal'c and the Midway station. Curious, why did the stargates have no iris? Regardless, the Wraith were able to hack McKay's computer program to dial in to the Midway station. From there... Earth. When saw Todd again in "The Kindred, Part 1," he was blamed for the near-invasion of Earth. McKay had concluded that Todd had stolen sensitive information which Todd admitted to and then blamed his underling for stealing it from him. Now... knowing all of this... who's to say that Todd could not have also gathered Earth's spatial coordinates? If he can copy McKay's "Midway Station" dialing program and the stargate address for Earth, it's not a stretch that he'd also know how to get there via ship. When we come to the finale... it would be more believable that the events of the episode would play out as "Midway" did. An underling stole Todd's ZPM hive complete with coordinates from Earth. Far more believable than a convenient message accidentally bled through from an alternate reality.

Careless or not, that's not what happened and complaining about it does not make it not have occurred. The Wraith got the address from another reality, it was a fun episode that tied together the story very nicely, simple as that. If you don't like it simply ignore it and make up some gobbildy gook about Todd and his magic hacking skills.

All I saw was complaints that McKay would leave the gate address as his screensaver waving it in front of todd and mocking him that he would never find its location. Vegas was one of the best episodes, it was stargate with a twist that we never get to see, as I said if you don't like it you can simply ignore it and move on. Criticizing a tv shows writing is pointless, nothing will be changed and nothing will change.
If you feel that you could have done better, feel free to write your ideas up in a fan fiction but chances are few will read it.

I never said as much. Vivid imagination you've got there.
I don't have to ignore it. I'm an American, I'm a writer, and I can exercise my right to criticize poorly written fiction in the hopes that people will get a clue. Deal with it.
I do believe I could have done better, and I've already explained how. As for fan fiction... bah. I'm outlining an original novel.
