Default A Wraith "What would happen if"

What would happen if a Wraith tried to feed on itself?

Frankly, I believe it would be the equivalent of..well.....hmmm. How to put this....self satisfying.

The energy would just cycle around and around.

I just think that would be impossible for a Wraith to feed on itself. Also it would feed on it's fellow Wraith before feeding on itself.

Thats a possibility. They may be immune to their own enzymes/feeding ability, just like a Rattlesnake is immune to its own venom.

Why are the Wraith so one dimensional?? All they do is sleep and feed.....Where are their planets, civilization, wives and children? Who builds their technology? Why do they sacrifice the intelligence of humans when they could feed on fish, meat and other animals? When they absorb the human's life force as "food" do they ever need ketchup or soy sauce? What's wrong with the life force of animals?

They developed to feed on humanoid life force. Koalas eat a diet of about 99% eucalyptus leaves. Leech's and ticks feed on blood.

Wraith society was never really developed in series. It only went 5 seasons. If they had continued I am sure we would have more answers as to their culture, more details on their social structure, art even. However, they are not Humans. They are a hive minded race, they do not think or behave like us.

As for planets, well they use them for bases or resting spots, they live in their Hives.

Allot of movies, books and series which have vampires, and let us face it Wraith is a type of vampire, then the life force of an animal is much weaker than that of a human being, perhaps so weak that it just would not do any good. There are foods a human being could eat until we drop but which just do not give enough nutrients to survive on no matter how much one ate of it. I think that perhaps animal life force is just not enough so the Wraith physiology have not developed to be able to process it. A rabbit do not have the digestive system to handle animal proteins for they do not need it for example, it can be the same thing.

I agree with Gormagon, if a Wraith fed on itself the energy would just cycle, that might be painful or pleasurable or both but I doubt it would have much other effect than leaving a wound in the Wraith's chest for it to heal.

I would think it would cycle around but slowly loose its effect for "healing and such"
