I was really shocked by it, I hadn't known it was coming and right up until then I thought Daniel was going to have some way to escape. I was on the edge of my seat. (Not a good idea to jolt to the edge of the seat with a full glass in your hand, but hey.) Great way to end an ep.
I was really saddened by it too. He died alone, and his dying thoughts were most likely that since he had failed to hold the replicators back there was nothing to stop them eating the SGC. It was really well acted. Okay I know that DJ is in s9, but *Daniel* doesn't know that, so his hopelessness and helplessness were very resonant.
