There will be less reality shows but they won't be truly gone from our television environment.

In previous articles I read they were trying to get another network to pick up the series, but it doesn't look promising when the main star is jumping ship.

What percentage of pilots actually get picked up as a series? Mostly they are just one offs and might not even get aired (nice paycheck for the actors anyway).

I cant remember a weekend when there hasnt been at least two westerns on. We have also had quite recent remakes of westerns and Red Dead Redemption is a popular computer game.

Maybe HBO has shown us that using animals (horses) in a show is not a good idea PR wise, so no westerns. Mostly I just think kids today have no idea what a horse actualy is anymore and Indians just own casinos.

"Deadwood", "Hell on Wheels", "Firefly" (if you like westerns in outer space), but yeah, it is a limited selection. I pretty much gave up on TV westerns when "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." was cancelled.

It's not really a fair assessment to compare a show that races horses to a show that simply uses horses occasionally...But I agree.
