what I meant was in comparison to the stated velocity of a jumper it's quite low.

Driving fast has never killed anyone. Suddenly coming to a halt, that has killed many, many people
The Pope, an Irishman and an Italian are walking down a street, when one of them says "Hey look guys! A bar!"
The main thing to take from that page I linked as it regards this situation is that the shuttle enters at those speeds because it lacks the thrust necessary to slow itself down from orbital speeds.
A jumper doesn't have that issue. It can decelerate itself at will. It doesn't even have to have its engines pointing in the right direction.
^ that.
No need to look elsewhere, they come in slow enough so there's not tons of friction generated.
Also, we rarely see the part where, in an atmosphere, the reentering ship would burn. We generally see the gateship high in orbit, or already a couple kilometers close to the ground.
They come in very fast actually, using the atmosphere to slow down. The trick being not to come in too fast or they burn, or at a too open angle to they bump back towards space. It's quite cool, in fact, that modern shuttles brute force their way through the atmosphere and turn into fiery comets.![]()

Perhaps the jumper's shields work differently than the other ships so there IS some sort of 'absorbtion' of the flames..
They could theoretically absorb part of the thermal energy that hits them, but they couldn't absorb the heat of gases pushed aside by sheer pressure. Plus we've seen other shields in SG that don't make the flames disappear. Take Atlantis or some 304s.

Take a look at the Gou'ald gliders though, or the 302's, they have never shown any sort of flaming re-entry. Maybe it is just something about smaller ships in the gateverse that doesn't create flames while entering an atmosphere.
Neither did the wraith darts from what i remember..
We've never seen them anywhere close to the region of atmosphere where such things happen.
Now, as a matter of fact, both Darts and Death Gliders were seen leaving trails as they quickly descended from the skies.
For the Darts, it happened in Siege part 2 I believe, and for the DGs, in that episode where SG-1 rescue Apophis who seeks sanctuary. It also happened in Continuum. In fact, I wonder if we haven't seen Klorel's DG take a heating when he crashed on Tollanna. I think we clearly did.
Didn't we see a Dart heating up in Vegas? Can't remember...

It might also have to do with HOw they are entering.
