I saw Jewel Staite at a convention here in Australia today, and she said that she's going to Dragon*Con this year. She hasn't been added to the guest list yet, but she sounded very sure that she'll be there.

Some tips fir a first timer; make sure you have your postcard, if you did pre-registration. Take some cash, ATMs run out quickly & most vendors don't take credit cards. Have a lanyard for your badge. Wear comfortable shoes (you will be doing a lot of walking/standing in line) & drink lots of water. Look at the schedule & plan out what you want to see/do. Try to follow the 6-2-1 rule. (6 hours of sleep, 2 meals of real food & 1 shower per day)
The Dragon-Con Livejournal site has a first timer tag & many questions that you may have are asked & answered there.
There is also a Dragon-Con wiki with hints & tips. Plus a first timer FAQ section.

To repeat; very important to get a lanyard for your badge. The clip that they come with is unreliable & if you lose it, you have to pay for another one.

I took a lanyard but I bought the SGMT badge wallet. I totally love it. It keeps the badge secure and has pockets to put other things in it like room keys and MARTA cards.
That was a great con investment!

To get in the mood for Dragon Con 2012, I went to battle on Ebay for the 3 pin Hard Rock Cafe Dragon Con 2011. I came out victorious. They arrived today and made my day.

I made my hair appoint ment to get my highlights done way ahead of D Con. I am attending Shore Leave so wanted it done before then. That way I don't have to worry about it closer to the con. Thinking about getting a new suitcase set before the con. Just want it to be con time now.

Just got an email from D Con office on live journal. The postcards are in the mail as of the 5th. So all speed ahead for Dragon Con. Now I just have to break in my sneakers for the cons.
