A GateWorld staff member, who was in Vancouver with me, has asked that I be in Chicago. So after the Sunday night dinner, I've decided to be in Chicago. I met a few GW members in Vancouver who are already going to Chicago. There are many actors, who were in the vendors area, that want to be in Chicago. They are: Frank Cassini, Aleks Paunovic, Brent Stait, Alex Zahara, Dan Payne, Julie Benson, Bill Butt, Jay Brazeau, and Andee Frizzell.

That would be awesome if they could be in Chicago.......

It would be great to have a few more guests. I will add, however, I checked with Stephanie at Creation during the Vancouver con and it sounded as if they weren't planning on adding any additional guests. I'd love to be wrong, however.

I would suspect that if they came they'd be on their own for airfare and hotel expenses....

What makes Vancouver easier for the actors to attend is most of them are local to the area so adding them to the Convention is a bit easier...

Well, they might be local but it's not like they sit at home the whole time, they have jobs and lots of them flew from all around the world (or at least North America ) to get to Van... so yeah, it doesn't really matter where is it... they have to fly them in anyway... I really hope that maybe they will consider adding some more guests though

Yes, some actors have that in their contract, others do not. And I don't want to get into that discussion cause it could potientally derail the thread and what is in their contracts is considered personal and confidential, so pretty much off-topic.

I've been to a few Vancouver conventions (and even once in Toronto) and many of the actors stop by because they were in the area, not because the convention invited them...though typically once the convention ptb knows they are there, they will work to accomodate them with a table or something along those lines.

I'd love to see additional guests added, but a part of me hopes they won't, because it'll be far easier to afford everything if they don't add more of my favourites!

(So basically, I'll be happy either way - if we get the extra guests, that's fantastic, because I'd love to meet more of them, but if we don't get more guests, that's good too, because I won't *completely* blow my budget!)

The new guests don't necessarily need to have a Q&A....just be available for autographs and permitted candid photos.

That's great news. I didn't have time to properly talk with them in Van. I will make sure that this won't be the case in Chicago.

Why the HELL did the people in Vancouver who bought the Preferred ticket pay $179 for just a seat. Yet the people in Chicago who get the same package get all the extras. WHAT THE HELL!!! And they pay the exact same price. SO feeling screwed right now.

Not that I necessarily think it's right, but I assume the Vancouver con costs a lot more to put on, given they had twice as many guests, plus the hassle of getting everything over the boarder. Am I right in remembering there wasn't much included in preferred last year either?

FWIW, they don't get all the extras. Just the cabaret and some of the autographs. I'm actually surprised they are offering those. Maybe they are trying to boost ticket sales. Sometimes, the photo ops in Chicago cost more than in Vancouver, for the same exact guests! Makes about as much sense. Still, I can understand your frustration.

They still might...there is plenty of time so lets hope they do work something out. I know schedules can get tricky sometimes but still...it would be awesome.
