    Default Ancient Archaeology

    Potential Spoilers...

...One theme that stands out from some of the episodes is that the ancients like to leave huge statues that last for thousounds of years (or more). In RECKONING, on takara we see a huge monument whic hhas a resemblance to the Sphyinx. Im going out on a limb to suggest that the ancients built that as it has some similarity with the monument on the planet were the ancient repository of knowledge was located. These markers would suggest that the ancients even though they do not influence mortal life would like to be remembered as supreme rulers of the universe. Add the fact that the on every device that is found has a magical enscription on its function (sight unseen). Maybe its just a plot device...Anyone?

how do you know that they didnt want just their legacy, it seems they were more interested in helping life, spreading life n coming to terms with what life was about than being all powerful n remembered as such. with the tech they have, it would have been easier n with them ascending it would have been cake work.

    Spoiler:
The device on Takara is supposedly designed to recreate life in our galaxy, but Anubis wants to use it to destroy all life and recreate it in his own image.

It sounds like it isn't a simple genetic manipulation device that would be used to change humans into Jaffa. Since we've already seen a device that does that, there's no reason to think that this weapon Anubis & Replicarter are after would be one and the same.

I think the point you're missing is that it's not an ancient weapon, it's a device that can be used as a weapon of mass destruction.

According to spoilers on this site...
    Spoiler:
The device was used by the ancients to recreate life in the milky way after the plague had wiped most of it out. However, Anubis wants to use the device to destroy all the existing life and recreate it in his own image.

I think that Jarnin is absolutely correct.

Theres a big point missed lol....device doesnt mean weapon. Fire is used to cook and other several useful applications, if someone is given fire by someone else whos using it nicely n turns it into a weapon, does that mean the people using it for other things created a weapon? No, the other person created the weapon OUT of something already existing.

Scissors are not a weapon...generally but they can be USED as one

Besides, why would the ancients need to make jaffa? lol
