I agree with much that was said in the article. However, I'd go a step further and rename the show "Stargate Atlantis: The Rodney McKay Self-Appreciation Hour". While he and Shep seemed to get the majority of the attention in the series, McKay got the most, as well as the best bits that showed David's range of acting skills - just one example being "The Shrine", which he was excellent in. Others were "Duet", "Tao of Rodney", "Trinity", "Runner", "Lost Boys", "The Hive", and numerous others. Nobody else got to show their acting skills like he did.

I did like McKay, but it got old really fast.
