    But writers block does pass.

Tried all the usual methods FH? (Music, Reading, Movies, Walks, Retail Therapy, Arts, Crafts, etc, etc...)

And then again it might be something in [air quotes] Real Life [/air quotes] that's getting you stressed out and causing the writers block.

Or it could be an actual block of concrete that's blocking you from using the computer to write stuff down. It that case i recommend hiring a pneumatic drill (Could just switch to good old pen and paper of course....)

True. Which actually feels creepier. *looks at Choo askance, backs away slowly*

Very true. Often with a veritable explosion of creativity, at least for me. Everybody's writers block is different.

C4 is also good, and fits with the earlier 'explosion of creativity' line.

It's probably fair to say that it works differently for everyone. Sometimes trying to write the polar opposite of what you're working on helps, sometimes completely avoiding writing and anything connected works, sometimes, as Choo rightly said, it's anything that takes your mind off it and redirects your energies.

The creepy thing is...I always seem to overcome writer's block just as everybody else succumbs to it. Am I creativity vampire?

I'm not sure I can classify it as writer's block.

As a way to describe the feeling...

I started a Sanctuary - SGA - Merlin crossover fic a couple of years ago... it has to be older than 2 years cause it's set around the time of Merlin's first season and Ashley's also still very much alive and no sign of Kate Freelander.

But anyway... I attended the Halfway Convention in Marseille and thus my sister watched Sanctuary which then caused me to watch it again. And that set off a chain of events... but every time I open the document it's like my muse bumps into this invisible wall and ... nothing happens.

    *shrug* It's weird.

Reading - if you count my Maya Learning book reading then yes, otherwise no
Movies - ... the last one I saw was The Fountain and boy it took the cake of most confusing film I have ever seen
Walks - ... I usually go every week but it's been a busy month so no on that
Retail Therapy - check -> bought a lot of new DVD's, and books to study Maya

I'm not a very crafty person, plus that requires some form of creativity... oh wait, I tend to fold paper boats out of candywrappers... does that count?

I'm fairly afraid that this is the case... I'm very stressed and there's barely any time for me to be just me, even hiding away doesn't give me that precious me-time I'm craving so badly. Constantly on edge, I am.

I used to have a professor (prehistoric archaeology) in college who went digging in Africa with a pneumatic drill. We always thought he was just kidding - until we caught wind of a story about him having to explain his drill at an African airport.

I have a quill and ink... very old school.

I call that a detour, in my case my muse starts about "whatever I am not currently doing looks like fun" So if I am working on Carol of the Bells, my muse sees Project ICegate chapter 7 and is all "THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN" and thus start writing then later my muse sees Murder on the Sea and is like "THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN" and so on, its a repeating proccess and to be honest it actually does get stuff done for me

It's a very common dialectal feature in British English, especially in the north of the country. So there's nothing wrong with it, but if one is writing in standard written English, of course it should be 'have', not 'of'.

It's incorrect; it doesn't matter if it's dialect or not, it's incorrect English. When people write they should do so correctly.

    Down the Rabbit Hole (M-rated):
A malfunctioning quantum mirror causes an explosion and catches Major Samantha Carter unaware. When she comes to she discovers she has not only ended up on the wrong side of the mirror, but also the law! Forced to live as her counterpart, she tries to find a way home. Can she trust her CO's alternate or does he have a plan of his own?
    -> Chapter 3 is up!

Speaking as someone from the Midlands.
I have to agree with all that has been said with regard to written english.
Dialect has it's place. But then there are the regional variations of phrases which are sometimes used.

It's incorrect Written English, yes, but it's not incorrect spoken English. The spoken language has never, will never, and quite frankly never should, match the written language, because if it does, we can say good bye to all but a tiny number of dialects.

I was at a school in Wolverhampton for 5 years so I have the ear for the Birmingham accent.
It also helps that I have family in Birmingham.

I have also been told I have a good 'Telephone' voice.

    Yes.
I was known as the 'Radio 4 man' by a former female work colleague.

Well at least you weren't Radio 1 Man, talking unintelligible gibberish while overly loud and annoying "music" plays in the background.
