    Temporal Cloning

    It seems that whoever goes first through the gate can go home, so all they need to do to get everyone back to Earth is this;

Send one person through the Gate
Wait for the next Destiny to arrive, tell them to send a different person through the gate
    repeat

They keep doing this until there's at least one version of everyone on Earth. They'll be about 100 Destinys that fall into the sun, and lots of copies of people...

Yep, but it'd still mean you'd be killing people even if they were "copies" ( which is a relative term, because the people that died the first are actuall the "originals" )

And nothing is predictable in the star. It could cause them to explode unless everything is EXACTLY the same.

Kill yourself so another you can live on happily in another universe. Pigs backside that would happen.

You have to look out for number 1....even if there is another number 1 of you in another universe.

This is a temporal LOOP so the events would naturally be the exactly the same. The only variable is the decision process of who goes first; that would have to be streamlined in the evacuation plan so that it does not delay the dialing or the person going through first.
          The signature has been destroyed!

Every single action would be exactly the same, because they're the same events and the timeline is identical.

However when Rush2 came aboard he changed this, even if only slightly and tiny changes he set in motion resulted in people on board doing some different stuff ( like talking to Rush2 instead of the whole volunteeringthing ). Because of this the dialing won't happen anymore the exact microsecond they did it the first time. Even if they did it only a second before or after the other destiny did it, circumstances have changed and the wormhole might end up anywhere, or the might simply explode.

Unless everything is left EXACTLY the same, the timing won't be at the same moment as before.

And there is the ethical issue of killing about 80 people each time so 1 of them can go through to earth, before the survivor(s) on the ship go to the next destiny and kill everybody except 1.

And that is assuming we don't blow up completely cause of damage.. YES we got spares of some stuff, but is that enough?

Eli's program was designed to run at a specific moment in the recharging sequence. Rush's presence does not affect the factors that lead into the dialing attempt, so it would be the same attempt the second time. The only way it would be different is if they either stopped the ship for a while or changed the program.

That does make the chance of exactly repeating the first attempt far more likely, though it depends on wether 'precise timing' ( as Rush2 called it ) means "start dailing when we are in the middle" , or means "408.7 nanoseconds after the ship starts recharging". Even slight variation changes the outcome.

Regardless there is the moral/ethical issue and how to attempt it in practice. How do you convince the next destiny to send a specific person through first? And do you tell them to let everyone else go through too ( killing them ), or not go through at all ( creating hundreds of copies who will be on damaged ships, falling back to stars )? Either way you are killing people. There is also the risk that the next destiny will detect the big graveyard of other destinies behind the star.

If they ever did that it'd be quite an episode.. a whole fleet of broken destinies.. If only Destiny wouldn't be damaged after the dialing attempt to Earth, then they'd have a while fleet of destinies that could work together to completing the mission.

Just because Telford survived, it doesn't mean that every single time, the first person will always survive.. I think the whole point Rush was trying to make was that the conditions inside the star are unpredicatable.. They don't know if the time travel would happen again, if the first person would survive, if the entire ship would be sent 12 million years back in time or 10 seconds into the future, or if the whole ship would just blow up. It was a fluke of physics and science that it happened once
I dunno what to put in here now..

I would say dial it, trow stuff on it to trigger the temporal event and then gate to the alternate destiny, after it passes through the sun and live with your other self.
