What series has the distinction of the worst finale ever
What series has the distinction of the worst finale ever
Bringing to the table:
Seinfeld
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Enterprise
Stargate Atlantis
Stargate Atlantis' series finale makes me ashamed of being a Stargate fan.![]()
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
The syndicated series, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. We'll never know if Marguerite or Challenger were rescued, both characters lives were in danger. Roxton was running from Conquistadors and Veronica was left holding the proverbial bag. It's been years and I'm still bitter and mad at how this show ended because the head producer said he wanted to get the backing for a 4th season himself and as far as I know he did diddly squat to get it.
I prefer to be called Sunny, Sun or SK. Thanks.![]()
Star Trek Enterprise's These are The Voyages .
SGA
BSG
Firefly - But only because Fox destroyed the show and cancelled it. Serenity came along though and had a good ending.
I had a hard time coming up with a 'worst' too, because the shows that have the worst finale's also seem to be either trying to cobble together a hurried slipshod ending because they're being cancelled and so haven't wrapped anything up or they are abruptly cancelled and sort of go nowhere. Firefly did come to mind. The finale wasn't bad, it just shouldn't have been a finale at that time. Serenity helped come back from that.

Stargate Atlantis definitely high up the list
I thought I was the only person who loved that show, you missed out the ultimate bit of cliffhangeryness: the entire universe ceased to exist!!
I'm sure I remember finding somewhere the writers had written an outline explaining exactly what was going to happen during the fourth season and what was happening on the plateau.
Battlestar Galatica. Seriously? God did it? Booooring
In Young We Trust
BSG's finale was awesome.
I'm going with firefly, for the fact it ended before it really started, and star trek voyager which was extremely bland.........kinda like voyager in general. at least the finale to enterprise had a nice inspiring last few seconds.
IMHO
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Enterprise
Stargate: Sg-1
Quantum Leap (The producers left us hanging because they tried to force a TV movie follow-up)
And any show that ended with a cliffhanger for the season, but got canceled after filming had wrapped.
"Americans are considered crazy anywhere in the world.
They will usually concede a basis for the accusation but point to California as the focus of the infection. Californians stoutly maintain that their bad reputation is derived solely from the acts of the inhabitants of Los Angeles County. Angelenos will, when pressed, admit the charge but explain hastily, 'It's Hollywood. It's not our fault, we didn't ask for it; Hollywood just grew.'
The people in Hollywood don't care; they glory in it. If you are interested, they will drive you up Laurel Canyon 'where we keep the violent cases.' The Canyonites — the brown-legged women, the trunks-clad men constantly busy building and rebuilding their slap-happy unfinished houses — regard with faint contempt the dull creatures who live down in the flats, and treasure in their hearts the secret knowledge that they, and only they, know how to live."
--And He Built A Crooked House, Robert A. Heinlein
Nope I love that show, have all 3 seasons on DVD.I didn't really leave out the ultimate bit of cliffhangeryness that's what I meant by "Veronica is left holding the proverbial bag" as it was HER FAULT the universe ceased to exist.

I've read that summary too and as nice as it is, it is NOT A WRAP UP of the series that it deserved. I point blank asked Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens if there as anything the fans could do to help get at least a wrap up mini or something and was told, "nothing". That is why the series didn't get a wrap up and it will forever be the worst series finale EVER in my world. Any producer who thinks that their fan base can not help get backers for a wrap up is a poopyhead, imho. If Farscape fans can do it, so could the TLW fans.I'm sure I remember finding somewhere the writers had written an outline explaining exactly what was going to happen during the fourth season and what was happening on the plateau.
I prefer to be called Sunny, Sun or SK. Thanks.![]()
As someone who isn't a fan, I didn't think the Voyager finale was that bad, at least they did something original. Atlantis has to be up there, but the absolute worst I can think of is BSG. Utter, utter dreck. All these mysteries and story arcs they set up resolved simply by revealing that God dunnit, even Starbuck back from the dead? Yeah, she's an angel! Pathetic. And then as if to add insult to injury the writers decide that in order to properly fulfil their pro religion anti-science/technology agenda ALL of the crew must unanimously decide to live a life of seclusion, without the technology that could keep them alive, because obviously they'd all come to the conclusion that technology is more trouble than it's worth right? I mean seriously? I feel embarrassed for them. Most contrived, illogical instance of mass character stupidity/unbelievability EVAR.
Dead Like Me *shudders*
BBc's recent Robin hood sereis. I wouldn't say it was the Wrost, but it definitely ticked me off. (and its the only one of mine not already mentioned)
The bad guy whos been dead for like a season magically appears with an army at the time of Robin's triumph!?!
Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a night. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm the rest of his life.
