    I'm watching the 1939 serial version with Buster Crabbe. It's great fun watching old sci-fi and see things that would become very familiar in the genre. Like the earliest screen appearance (that I've seen anyway) of a transporter and the inspiration for the opening crawl used in the Star Wars movies.
