i do not...BSG was (IMHO - and yes it maybe just my oppinion, but it still is ) the worst science fiction in the last years (i hate people mixing science fiction with higher powers (god!) if we never see that higher power at work (we do in SG-1 and Atlantis, so that's something i like again, higher power but a higher power you can see, touch and if necessary fight and kill!))

as for the thing: I'd still say it is a repair-robot and i still think rush should have that "thing" looked at imidiately (repairing the ship (power distribution, hull breaches, weapons...etc.) would have done some good for all aboard....i still want to know what he did instead (hell he had 4 WEEKS to inspect almost all of the ship and somehow i get that he didn't do something important as there was nothing on the screen

ps: protection from dialing to destiny? - well maybe you need some sort of special dialing device (didn't they have a remote dialing device on the "gate"-episodes?) to be able to establis a wormhole to the ship (like an advanced GDO build right into the gate system...with the exception of 9th chevron gates....)

I doubt they're prepared but at the same time they probably don't see it as a possibility since it took them so much time and energy to dial it in the first place. Sure someone nearby could dial in but from what we've seen the galaxy they're in seems to be lacking in DHD's

Possibly a first version of Replicator being used to built the stargate. Probably the same version carried by the seeder ship. So. Destiny too capable to add a new stargate on a new planet like the one they just found in this episode. They just need to locate the raw material or they just build it on the ship.
