How about....genius. That fits. And I don't think it's setting the bar too high either.
    Yeah.... Genius will do.

At least until a linguist can come up with a completely new word to describe the greatness of The Wire.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Y'know, I'm browsing fanfiction.net, and there's 10 933 fanfics about Hannah Montana (not counting crossovers), and not a single one about The Wire. Of course, a fanfic writer would never be able to do the show justice, not by a long shot, but still, there's something very disturbing and wrong about this picture.

Good. No no-talent fanfic writers should go anywhere near The Wire. They can desecrate that Hannah Montana garbage all they like though

Quantum Leap isn't that much Sci-Fi, and it's one of my favorite shows

A man leaping through time and inhabiting other peoples' bodies isn't sci-fi? Who knew?

They never really elaborated on the "science" part behind it, it was basically just a gimmick to have wildly different episodes each week (a good one at that)

I never said it WASN'T sci-fi, it just didn't really feel like Sci-Fi, as they never elaborated on the sci-fi parts of the show, and just focused on the comedy/drama stuff.

i think the lack of fanfic is a blessing in disguise. Further The Wire probably scares away any potential fanfic writers through the sheer strength and quality of its writing.

I don't think it's a blessing in disguise. Just think it's a blessing, straight up

Well who would want to compete with Ed Burns and David Simon. They are pretty much the greatest writers on tv. And the broke the mold in every way, including managing to have non annoying child characters and create several gay characters who didn't just feel token.

Yep. Even as far as the genius of The Wire goes, I think season 4 was its crowning achievement. No small feat, considering it was largely about kids.

I just watched the first episode of Justified. Seems pretty good.

I've seen the first 3 eps of Justified. Pretty good I must say. Not too realistic but very good fun.
