A couple of you have mentioned The Pacific. I *LOVED* Band of Brothers, so I really want to see this! We don't get HBO though, so I'm going to have to wait for the DVDs. Oh well, I'm still really excited to see this!!

What do you guys think of it so far?

                Dexter
He's a serial killer. What's not to love?
                Weeds
Hot mom who sells pot. Again, what's not to love?
                The Simpsons
                It's The Simpsons. Nuff said.
                Family Guy
Damn good show. I've actually started to like it more than The Simpsons.
                Scrubs
It's an incredibly funny show that is able to maintain a great blend of comedy and drama. I'd go as far as to say that it's the best sitcom ever (imo).
                Blackadder
It's a British comedy with the Rowan Atkinson. What could possibly go wrong?

Without getting into specifics or spoilers, I would say that the greatest differences between Band of Brothers and The Pacific are the overall format and the general tone. BoB focused on Easy Company and we got a good look into their command structure, especially 2nd platoon. Pacific focuses mainly on three soldiers: John Basilone, Robert Leckie, and Eugene Sledge. The specific focus on the three soldiers makes for a different kind of storytelling than BoB. To me, Pacific has a more...brooding quality to it, though admittedly that's just my point-of-view.

Part Five aired earlier tonight and it left me with a feeling of "Wow." I've liked The Pacific from the beginning. Don't get me wrong. I'll always like BoB because it came first and because we got to know the E Company boys really well. But Pacific is very likable in its own way. At some point in the distant future, I'll probably go ahead and invest in a DVD boxset if and when I can afford it.

Cool! Thanks for the little review! That's interesting that they are mainly focusing on three soldiers - I imagine that makes the feel of the show rather different. I'm intrigued though! Definitely looking forwards to the DVD release now!

Currently I'm just watching NCIS (and hanging on through the end of 24, but mostly just for nostalgia's sake).

If you want shows that are no longer airing, though, "Flight of the Conchords" and "Arrested Development" were fantastic! I used to watch a lot of private detective shows like "Simon and Simon", "Remington Steele", and "Magnum P.I." but watching those on Hulu recently I'm afraid they haven't held up all that well.

And if you want to go way, way back, you just can't beat "Soap" for pure genious and hilarity and even some really touching drama from time to time.
