I don't know, its just lame and cheesy for my taste. I understand that it was the first real "Big sci-fi" but i just do not like it. I have tried to watch it all but i never managed to do it..

No, Doctor Who was the first "Big sci fi". It first broadcast in 1963, compared to 1966 for Star Trek. (Or 1964 if you count the first pilot of Star Trek, but whatever, Doctor Who was first.)

Tough to do a list. My top 3 are pretty much set in stone, the others can shift a little depending on my mood, sometimes Firefly makes the list in favor of one of the others.

Star Trek: TNG has a special place in my heart... it will always be first. Its the first sci fi show I every really became a fan of. I love Picard, Data, Geordi, Worf and both the Crushers (Yes, even Wesley). TNG had some killer stories (Inner Light, Chain of Command, All Good Things, The Drumhead, I, Borg, Best of Both Worlds, Unification, Redemption, Parallels, Yesterday's Enterprise etc etc)
The new Battlestar Galactica is a true epic. Its just one long story... its fantastic. Ron Moore turned a campy 70s show into a modern phenomenon,
I personally prefer the classic Doctor Who era (1963-89) however I do enjoy the new series and, I must say, I am very fond of Matt Smith. My favourite Doctor is Jon Pertwee followed very closely by Tom Baker,
Like BSG, Babylon 5 is an epic. The story is complex and compelling.JMS is a great writer!
