I hated how Lyta was treated by Sheridan in "Wheel of Fire". With all her power, she only became dangerous when threatened, and he, well, all of them, owed her the Universe for her actions in the Shadows War and the war against President Clark. She deserved some respect and a lot more support.

I hated the fact that no rogue telepath or Lyta never hunted down Bester and completly suppressed his telepathic powers-permanently! A taste of life in the mundane side would be a perfect reward for him.

Sinclair turned into Sheridan and Sakai turned into Anna. It was one of those deals where JMS had a backup plan in case they needed to make a change.

Not enough G'kar. Not enough of G'kar using his eye.

It was disgraceful how Lyta was used and abused by the so-called Army of Light. Sheridan specifically. People do that though.

I really didn't like the romances on B5. For the most part they were overwrought junk. All except Londo and Adira. That was just heartbreaking. I'm not sure how jms can write such incredibly moving speeches, characters and comedy/drama/pathos (oddly, sometimes at the same time) then descend to what passed for romance. <<shudder>>

Here's a pet peeve of mine about B5. At the time it was being made, it seemed to be Hollywood fashion to have an industrial fan running in the background of a scene.

"Dude! We need to add texture to this scene. What are we gonna do?"
"Stick an industrial fan in the background running far too slowly to actually be useful for air circulation. Everyone else is doing it on their shows."

I mean, really. Even "Xena: Warrior Princess" had freaking fans in the background, even though it was supposed to be set in some far fantasy past long before circular fans were invented.

And the climatic fight scene in Serenity took place where? Above some giant spinning fans like something out of Galaxy Quest.

I totally agree with how Lyta was used then dumped. In fact I found Sheridan to be very unlikable in this final series almost a different character. Perhaps the events of previous years had taken there toll.

I hated how they had Delenn re-act to Lennier when he just left John to die. I mean John has only 20 years left to live and her best friend just tried to kill her husband and they had her more worried about frelling Lennier than her own husband. Urgggghhhh I won't watch the last part of that episode it made me so mad.
Why did you do such a thing, you mediocre dunces?

I know this has been stated several times, but I hated the way Lyta was treated, especially by Sheridan and Co. She saved their butts and her reward was to be shunned and driven away. It was absolutely terrible and I lost a lot of respect for Sheridan after that. Throughout the entire show someone always wants to use Lyta for her powers but once they are done they just abandon her.

On another note, I would have really liked to see the adventures of G'kar and Lyta. I think that would have been awesome.

I agree with most of the points made in this thread.

But in summary, the biggest thing wrong with Babylon 5 had more to do with the constant threats of cancellation by the studios. The Shadow war, Earth civil war and telepathes war were suppose to intertwine a lot more with each other rather than being the separate threads/stories that they ended up as.

I wish we had more background on the great machine on epsilon 3

The technological gap between Earth and other aliens races, especially given the fact that Earth was regularly shown to be able to beat aliens more advance than earth.

I hated the way they treated Lyta too. It was so weird to me that all these moral-high-ground characters just turned on her like that, after all she did to help them. And after they had forgiven each other for all kinds of horrible things. It made them look petty and ungrateful. "Sorry Lyta, you're not one of the cool kids. But if we need your psychic powers to save our hides again, we'll call ya."

Another thing that bugs me is that they never show any more than flirting between Dr. Franklin and Number One / Theresa Halloran. Sadly, I suspect this is because she's white and he isn't, since they've shown Franklin in other relationships with dark-skinned women.

What's worse, Catherine Sakai's non-white too, but pairing her up with Sinclair was apparently no problem.

Beyond his drug problems and his running on the telepath underground and son and dad issues I cant remember that much about Franklin and his relationships or other stories on the show.

Oh, he had quite a few stories, and at least two dark-skinned girlfriends. One of them was the singer Cailyn, who had a deadly illness.

Stud guard. Quite a Freudian slip!

No, I didn't forget. My gripe is that they didn't show the two of them kissing, never mind anything else. With Cailyn, they showed Franklin and her cuddled up together in bed.

Jms does not beat people over the head with it. Maybe Number One it not the kissing
type maybe she just the get down to business type .

    http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1...query=franklin

The Garibaldi/GROPO thing was originally slated in the script for them to go to
bed with each other...it was Jerry who objected loudly enough for that to be
    changed in the script.

Then there's Franklin and Number One who jumped into bed very quickly, we have
Garibaldi and Lise in bed in "Between the Darkness and the Light," Franklin and
the singer in downbelow... there are plenty of counter-examples.

    Conservative I ain't.

We have no intention of avoiding the gay question. We will not,
however, do a "gay story," which is usually described by those friends and
acquaintances of mine in derogatory terms...a la, "fags are people too."
The sense I get is that they resent the hell out of that kind of
patronizing approach. The one suggestion that comes most often is, "Why
not simply introduce a character, we get to know that character over the
run of a season, and at some point discover, practically in passing, that
this person is bi or gay...*don't* make a big issue out of it, just show
    it."

And that's what we're going to do.

Thanks! Of course, everything doesn't have to be shown to be implied, but I would have liked to see Stephen and Tessa at least kiss...
