Sam was not placed into the computer mainframe until just before Jack had to zat the Entity. I always saw this as a 'locked-in' syndrome for Sam (I'm sure not everyone agrees with me). Teeny-tiny self-pimp (because it shows how I see the scene from Sam's perspective):

This One Chapter 5 (a WIP for me).

Oh really? Eh... *shrug* I guess it's based on interpretation. They didn't really do a good job explaining. Another check in the Into the Fire column then! Into the Fire was all explicit and clear. Not a muddled as Entity, in terms of plot... At least in my opinion...

So selene are you suggesting that Sam's conciousness was in the computer the whole time? As I understand it, Sam's conciousness is within until the very end when the entity sends it to the computer to preserve her while allowing itself to be destroyed. I would say that Jack's parallel experience would be Message in a Bottle.

And isn't it interesting that Sam and Jack often have parallel experiences? It's one more reason they belong together. Because they understand each other like no one else ever could.

Ah okay... I stand corrected then. No worries. Again, another reason why I like Into the Fire better. Can't misinterpret THAT one! Heheheheh....

Hey, I'm good with alternate intepretations.

I do watch Entity for Jack because we really don't get Sam's perspective.

On the other hand we see the usually inscrutible Jack loses it so completely that everyone notices his desperation and pain. What can I say? I love the angst.

Always playing both sides of the fence here, Jack is pretty obvious in his emotions during that hug too. But the only one around to notice was the Tok'ra. (Do you think she mentioned something to Jacob?)

I call it "the power of Please" -Jack just can't resist when she hits him with that soulful request. Not when she asked to take a walk with Martouf, not when she asked to be left behind with her dad ('The Tok'ra'), not when she asked him to accept the Tok'ra symbiote ('Frozen'), and not when she begged him to hold on and not leave her in 'Lost City' when he was fading from the Ancient knowledge download.

All right. I'm going with Into the Fire.

But here's my reasoning: Both of these choices are not based on sexual attraction of any kind. There was no steaminess, no hunger. And that's what makes them both so heart-wrenching.

In Entity, we see Jack dealing with puppet!Sam-- someone wearing the guise of Sam Carter, but with Sam's mind and personality completely MIA. He doesn't know if she can be "restored" so to speak, or if the entity can be removed. But he has to make decisions knowing that Sam is being considered KIA, even as he's faced with a living breathing shell. So it was interesting to see that dynamic played out, and there was even a little deja vu (cuz the last time something took over her mind and controlled her body [Jolinar] she almost died then too, and it woulda been his fault [in his mind, anyway]).

But then we have Into the Fire, where Jack is almost taken over by a symbiote, and Sam almost faces the same situation he did in "In the Line of Duty". But then he comes out of the cryo chamber, and he falls into her arm and hugs her tight, as though to reassure them both that he really is okay, and he really is himself.

I think Into the Fire wins because it deals with a situation they both faced. Jack would have experienced being prisoner in his own head, and Sam would be dealing with an imposter. Whereas in Entity, it was only Jack dealing with the situation. As far as we know, Sam was only aware of being shunted to the computer. Now I'm not dissing the mental chaos that must come from being in a computer, but I imagine that she didn't know what her body was being used for, or if she and any perception of time even passing, so... by my calculations, it was just Jack in Entity.

So... Into the Fire wins my vote!

Until you said it, I never thought about the Tok'ra lady. She probably did die in the explosion, since I doubt she recovered quickly enough to get herself out of there. Or maybe the explosion was more localized and just took out the power source for the shield around the gate?

She said to Jack and Sam that her symbiote might yet heal her. I don't think she'd direct them how to blow up the generator without her believing she could get out. And I can't see Jack and Sam just leaving her to die like that either.

IMO she dragged herself down to one of the tunnels and was able to survive and get back to the Tok'ra. Jacob visits the very next episode and talks like he's heard the whole story (well, maybe not everything ). He got his intel somewhere. And he's all chummy with Jack too, like he approves of him saving Sam and taking care of each other.

As for the voting, I'll be on again around 10pm US EST (7 hrs. from now) and I expect some decisive action between now and then. *cracks whip*
