When i read about this episode, i was wondering how they were gonna justify a more comedy/light hearted episode in the middle of the Apocalypse storyline. So they revealed the Trickster as Gabriel, which im a bit meh on the idea personally. Its like their retconning things to fit in with the Angel Vs Demon heading toward the Apocalypse. Yes there has allways been a 5 year plan, so this may have allways been on the cards, but kinda comes off as a deus ex machina.
As for the TV spoofs:
1) Sitcom - funny, worked better with Dean than Sam
2) Grey's Anatomy - The writer is either a fan or did a lot of research, because there were so many little hints in it. The elevator. Dr Ellen Piccolo's and her seriously, a hint at Ellen Pompeo as her character Dr Meredith Grey and her tendency to say seriously. Seattle-Mercy Hospital, representing the merger of Seattle Grace and Mercy West. Dr Wang, a nod at Dr. Cristina Yang. Jonny Drake, the ghost in the head of surgeon, a nod at Jeffrey Dean Morgan character Denny Duquette. Implying Sam as Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), since they have similar hair, also making a referance to one of the character story arcs. Implying Dean as the plastic surgeon Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), due to similar looks. The shooting of a surgeon, a nod at the shooting of Dr Preston Burke.
3)Japanese Game Show - Hilarious. It even had a shameless advertisement and slow motion replay
4)Herpes commercial - funny, based on Sam's reaction
5)CSI type Show - probably the most meh spoof of them all
6)knight rider - Quite good, couldnt have imagined it the other way arond.
