    Heart Watching Stargate..spoiler free please

As I watch Stargate I plan to post my thoughts in this thread. I am trying to stay spoiler free so rather then jumping in the others I made this one. I hope everyone Jumps in and gives me their thoughts (spoiler free) as I watch. I am interested on what take someone who has seen it all may have versus newbie me.

Children of the gods....AMAZING! I loved it! The action and humor mix so well! Teal'c was great! Is the guy playing Dan Jackson the same guy from the film? I haven't seen it in a while but I think it is. The Nudity was a bit jarring but other then that I loved everything. I am way excited to watch even more.

What do you all think of children of the gods?

The enemy within. What a great way to run with the story. Jack is a stand up guy and teal'c is true to his word! The action and Drama both came together well for another top notch show! I was hoping Jack's friend would live but I guess it was not meant to be? What do you folks think of this one?Man if the first two are this good, I can't wait for episode three!!!

What are everyones favorite episodes in season 1 so I know what ones to look out for?
Thanks again for telling to me watch! This show blew me away in only two episodes!

Children of the Gods will always have a special place in my stargate loving heart.

The guy playing Daniel Jackson in the film is James Spader, while the guy who plays him in the series is Michael Shanks. It's funny how much they look alike.

Don't know if you could classify this as a spoiler but here's a fact about the Remastered Children of the Gods.
    Spoiler:
    The nudity was removed

    The Enemy Within.
So sad to loose Kawalsky. he was such a great character.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

There were no snakes in the movie.

Jack is different because Richard Dean Anderson wanted to do his own thing and not just copy Kurt Russell.

if i were you, i'd look at the Final Cut of COTGs and not watch the original, as it's quite confusing actually.

Don't bother. It's $20 for a re-edited version of what you already get as part of the season 1 set.

I envy you, getting to enjoy it all from the beginning for the first time. Makes me want to rewatch it all, but there's really nothing like your first time

The Children of The Gods Directors Cut DVD is a less-confusing remastering of the first episode. You might want to wait on getting it, its great to watch though.

This seems to be a point of contention as well. I found that the Final Cut of CotG was, in a number of places, edited almost to the point of incomprehensibility. It also got rid of a number of things important in the original cut.

Indeed it did, it was turned into more of action flick, but it works to a certain degree.

    THanks for the info.

Watched episode 3. It had a good message but it was out of sink with the first two. It was overly cheesey with not much action. Good ending.

Yeah it's not one of my favorites. We all know that it takes some time for a show to find a good balance that will make it awsome.

I just started re-watching the series recently and watched this one today. I'll admit it's a step down from the first two (or three), but it had some good stuff--like the chemistry between the primary actors. And, I liked the climax.

On the "Children of the Gods" - Final Cut. It sounds like they've changed a little too much, including some stuff that really didn't need to be changed (like Carter's MacGyver reference, according to IMBD). So, I have decided not to get it without first borrowing it from someone, or watching it on hulu to see if it's indeed worth getting.

I did a scene by scene writeup/review on it here. So you can get an idea of the things that have changed

    Hi farscapeman

You will always find a epi you don't like. I have a few I don't like as much as the others, but your right about the third!

I liked episode 3. Few cheesey story moments but good message. I have a daughter so I stay away from shows that demean woman. People should be judged on what they offer as a person not what sex they are. I also like that the fight scene looked real and sloppy not all movie or matrixed.

Please keep posting as you watch. It makes it feel new for us seeing it threw the eyes of a newbie! Teal'c is the best. Episode 3 stubles a little but it starts picking up now.
Even a whole episode about teal'c very soon. Good stuff.
