Future of Stargate
As we know, at the Vancouver Convention this past weekend Brad Wright announced there will be no SGU movie and the Stargate SG1 and Atlantis movies have been permanently shelved.
However, Brad Wright is also quoted as saying: “It’s a franchise. Stargate is not over,†he said. “Somebody smart from MGM is going to figure it out, and something will happen.â€

Future of the Campaign
With the movies permanently shelved and no definitive action from MGM on behalf of the franchise the Stargate Movies Campaign has, in at least its present form, may have run it course. We have very much enjoyed running this campaign and we do not regret, and never will regret standing up for SG1 and SGA and trying to rally support for the movies. It may have always been a long shot but it was a shot worth taking.
We have had the opportunity to meet and work with great people. The fan involvement and support has been fantastic. Most of all it was fun. It has very much been worth it-we would not change a thing, except of course having the movies greenlighted.
The campaign does not plan to disappear or take down our shingle just yet; we, as well as most other fans, need time to grieve. We also want to take the time to celebrate and pay homage to a wonderful franchise and in particular two shows that captured the hearts, imagination and passion of fans worldwide.
We are working on a few ideas that would allow all of us to celebrate SG1 and SGA together and let MGM know how disappointed we are in their decision to not move forward with the movies.
Is Stargate Dead?
We emphatically say NO! As long as there are passionate fans, as long as the idea and dream of stargate lives on in the hearts and imagination of fans then Stargate will never die.
We do have a few new Stargate things to look forward to. There are new SG1 audiobooks due out, there are new SGA books and the Blu Ray release of all 5 seasons of SGA. The campaign will continue to support SG1 and SGA and these new SG items. We hope fans will continue to support SG and purchase the books and the SGA Blu Ray Discs. Heck, how you go wrong, Michael Shanks on audiobook and SGA on Blu Ray?
Most of all we hope that Brad is right, that MGM will see the value of Stargate as a franchise and find a way to continue it at some point. And if we may indulge a little, we will always hope that it would involve movies with SG1 and SGA.
To the Fans
First and foremost the Stargate Movies Campaign wants to thank all who believed in the SG1 & SGA movies and who participated in the campaign. It has not been in vain - there may be no movies in the near future but all of us took the time from our busy schedules to fight for a show we believed in. A show that ignited that spark of imagination and passion that united us all as fans. If a job of a fan is to stand up and support the show they love, then we all did that job exceedingly well. Be proud of this.
To Brad Wright:
Thank you for 15 plus 2 seasons of Stargate.
Thank you for coming to the Convention and addressing fans directly and honestly about the present state of the franchise and lack of prospects for any movies. We know you have taken heat on some fronts regarding Stargate but we applaud you for having the integrity and decency to address fans face to face. At the very least fans deserved this, thank you.
It's Not Over YET! Campaign Activities:
Video Contest
Our video contest and voting is in full swing. Due to the convention and Brad's announcement, we have decided to extend voting until Saturday, April 23rd, 8:00 AM EST to be sure everyone has had an opportunity to see and vote for their favorites video.
For links to the video and to place your vote please visit our CONTEST PAGE http://www.stargatemoviescampaign.com/Contests.php
Tell MGM You Support Stargate
We are encouraging fans to let MGM know that you are unhappy over the demise of stargate. We will have some twitter messages going out and a sample letter up on the website ASAP.
Please note: this is not a campaign to make MGM bring back SG, as sadly that does not seem possible in the near future, but we can still tell MGM how disappointed we are in their decision and that fans desire to see Stargate continue.
A Celebration of Stargate (TBA)
We are working on an idea for contests and activities that would pay tribute to Stargate and its fans. So don't go away just yet, there is still more to come.
Sincerely,
Major Davis, MarieWynn, EdenSG
