    I'm so glad you asked.

The RE movie franchise lacks something that the games had. Good storylines and scary scenes. Sure, the game dialogue was mostly always crap but they didn't have to rely on half-naked, make-up covered cartoony girls to carry the weight of it all.

Unfortunately, the movies are just a good example of how not to make horror films and how not to channel good ideas through bad sources. Paul WS Anderson made one good film once upon a time (Event Horizon), but Resi-Evil and it's subsequent sequels plummetted into the abyss of craptasticness from the moment some movie executives said 'go'.

but the games, you drove the story, you get to the next room etc. films drive you. as far as game/film conversions go it is rubbish, name one that's good!!(i do like streetfighter for its whole 'tongue in cheek' attitude and MK isn't the worst supernatural kung fu movie i've seen) but they would be unlikely to please a lot of the game fans, if only because your fav character doesn't win.(sektor in MK, not even in the films) i'd only like a resi film if it did have the bad voicing like resi 1 did.......... "hi........ Jill, i'''''''m..... barry, whesker........ did it."

Unfortunately, the movies are just a good example of how not to make horror films
i never considered them horror, "action that shares the name" maybe?
and how not to channel good ideas through bad sources.
so don't make films based on games then?
Paul WS Anderson made one good film once upon a time (Event Horizon),
good movie its like a really good "sunshine"
but Resi-Evil and it's subsequent sequels plummetted into the abyss of craptasticness from the moment some movie executives said 'go'.
i think your expectations are way too high for any game based movie.

And what wrong with half naked, make up covered cartoony girls.

I think you expected to much from Films base on games. Through I do reckon that film people ignored games that actually had a descent story.

Okay I am forgetting FF film which is base on a game with a story and I am probably the only one in the entire cinema that enjoyed it.

i didn't think the FF movie was based on any of the games.
i quite liked it but most FF fans hate it because it has so little to do with FF.

Many elements of FF7 was in the film but it was not base directly on a story from the game or any of the other games, which is a shame because seeing some of those summons done in a film, the could look gorgeous.

Well I consider my FF fan having completed every game except 11. And own every game apart from 11, and 7,, which I refuse to pay 60 quid for in a second hand shop a couple of years ago. It more than what I would of paid for it when it was release but it a classic and probably worth the money.

    I agree.

In my opinion they're both BAD Resident Evil films, and 2 & 3 are simply bad films.

Not only is the entire nature of Umbrella, the roles played by key members and in fact all of the back story destroyed. For example - Wesker, not being a treacherous ******* like he isin the games and screwing EVERYONE over, not just STARS. Chris Redfield not even existing... but they even changed how the outbreaks occured.

No I'm sorry - bad Resident Evil films that had a very clever and intriguing conspiracy orientated plot, they also butchered the characterisations of Jill and Claire. They turned Jill into a foul mouthed hard ass *****, when in fact, despite (supposedly) being Ex-Rangers, Jill in the games was a well to do and very pleasent woman. Claire additionally, was a NICE college girl, not some chain smoking *****, and generally 2 & 3 were simply bad movies.

I really enjoyed the first 2, but I did not find the third one very good, other then the twist at the end where she finds many siblings (clones) which should allow her to have an army of herself for the future.

I am happy to hear their will be a forth, and I hope it returns to more of the type of plot and cinematography we had in the first 2 movies.

Claire was in a resi evil movie I must have missed that

I do enjoy the movies (Loved the games), but I wish they didn't make the hero all genetically modified superhuman, I also wish we got the actual characters from the game i.e. Claire, Chris etc playing a big part...We did get Jill in the second movie!

I've ordered resi evil 2,3 and Degeneration on blu-ray You were getting 3 for 2 at amazon

    Resident evil movies

yes she was, she was played by ali larter (of heroes fame) in the 3rd one.
she's also in degeneration, and so is leon, but it is unconnected the the other movies, and was truely based on the game universe, unfortunately however it is not a particularly great movie, and the CGI is mostly not much better than RE5 cutscenes, in fact in some bit's i swear it is worse.

Ah right, no wonder I didn't remember. I've only seen the third movie once and that was by *cough* other means

Ah well, pity that degeneration ain't that good, I guess i'm a lost cause, any resi evil fix is good enough for me

    Fourth 'Resident Evil' movie confirmed

A fourth Resident Evil movie is being planned for next year, according to ShockTillYouDrop.

Titled Resident Evil: Afterlife, the movie is reportedly scheduled for release by September 17, 2010. However, it is not yet known whether Milla Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice.

Paul W.S. Anderson is said to be writing the script for Sony, with Capcom once again involved.

Despite being hailed as the final chapter, the previous movie ended with a cliffhanger featuring the Alice clones seeking revenge on the Umbrella Corporation in Tokyo.

Ooh, glad I found this thread . I'm a gamer by heart and one of my first games was Resident Evil 1 and 2. I can play it blindfolded LOL

I love the movies just because they're Resident Evil ya know. Have you ever listened to the commentaries of the first movie? Listening to our two leading ladies cracks me up every time

JB: In Germany they eat beer-
    MJ: They eat beer?!
MR: It's all about chewing the bottle guys.

And I can give loads more quotes. They're hilarious and obviously love the game.

Of course I miss the utter gore and goosebumps you get from the games in the movies and yes the last one didn't have a lot of zombies but I'm really really looking forward to the fourth one.

I've got Degeneration on Blu-Ray and I must say they did a pretty good job. Though, indeed a bit slow paced, I truly enjoyed it. *huggles her RE movies*
