DJGirl I think that looks very great.
Don't know why the color looks different. Tried it myself to be sure I didn't do anything wrong. Will try again.

But I think the color looks great as well. And it's funny, I first wanted to use the you used for the tut, but I thought after the sadness Ned and Chuck cannot touch...some touching pics would be nice.

EDIT: Whoops. Found the mistake. Just a little typo... *coughs*.
    The first selective coloring.
Neutrals: cyan +100....typed - instead. Sorry. Changed it already.

*walks in and waves at the nice folks here*

    Great idea for a thread.

Me thinks I need to go through those tuts when I have time.

    *slips out*

Great idea to put all the tuts in one place will make it a lot easier to find them.

    Luci on the PSP front

    1. it does not do selective colouring in the way PS does it in fact the current selective colouring is naff

    2. can't do gradient maps either - I think the best way I found way to do a gradient fill and then change the mode to something like color but it doesn't have the exact effect

    3. PSP does not have smart blur either

    hope this helps

I added two PSP color tuts without selective coloring. Didn't try them, but I hope they'll work.

And I'm pretty sure Fainne did that gradient thing as she visited me.
Looked different as in PS but changed to exclusion it looks the same.
But maybe you should ask her...I'm, still not sure...the only thing I know is color balance is exactly the same in both programs.

And I do have no idea about PSP filters. Even don't know if you have some kind of artistic paint daubs.

I'm just trying the best I can to make it translatable.

Ahhhh, that makes much more sense. I was wondering how yours could be so blue and mine had absolutely none... I will just have to try it with another pairing.

Thanks, Cazz. I am still very pleased with how it turned out as well. I think you are right, for D/V, it fits better. Like I said, I am going to give it another go.

umm, what's an "artistic daub"? i translated it but still don't know it exactly, could you post a pic please? Maybe i can help then because i already played with filters in my PSP

Well, 'I remember me doing something and you telling me that it looks exactly like the gradient thing. but i don'T remember what exactly I did. I guess it was an exclusion thing...

In PS you go Filters>>Artistic>>Paint Daubs and it brings up this pic:

    It kinda highlights the outlines

    Fainne
    Spoiler:

can't wait to see your next try.

ah right. thanks. I checked it because I remembered there was an effect with oilpainting - but i couldn't find it BUT if one likes to use it in PSP I'm sure one can probably download it somewhere as a plugin and install it. shouldn't be a problem.

and the gradient thing - now i remember it was a black and white colouring on exclusion. thank you Luci for remembering what i actually did xD

Thank you so much for this tut!!! So it is much easier made than it looks. Very well done. That's the true art

I just have one question: what is "anchoring"? What does it do?

That's one of my biggest secrets. Making simple arts looking more complicated as they actually are. *coughs*

yep, thagt's everyone's little secret I still have my difficulties with that

I posted a new tutorial in my LJ and also wanted to post it here it's a simple one just to show some effects one can achieve with PSP

    Spoiler:
My first tutorial will show you how to get from this picture: :

    to this

I use a picture of my favourite actor William Fichtner *ihi*, but you can use any pic you want. I'm just not sure if the effects turn out the same way then. Just try it and you'll know it *smiles*
First of all open the picture and duplicate the layer -> go to Effects -> Paint Effects (older PSP versions might have it under Artistic Effects) ->pencil. So it looks like this:

It looks a bit scary now, but not for long. Just set the top layer on overlay and it looks like this:

Bill now looks slightly like a zombie so we smooth his skin a bit. But first we need to merge the layers. Then go to Adjust-> Noise add/removal -> Edge preserving smooth, set it on 14. Sharpen the layer twice and set opacity on 48% so it looks like this:

merge all layers and duplicate them. Use the Gaussian Blurr on the top layer, set it on 3 -> set layer on soft light. now it looks like this:

Again merge the layers. Now use the Soften-tool, which should be in the tool box on the right side of your PSP:

size: 13; sharpness: 44; opacity: 48 -> use it only on his facial skin and neck so it looks more friendly.

Now duplicate the layer one more time and use the motion blurr: angle: 124°; 100% and set the layer on soft light. Now you are finished and the picture looks like this:

hope this helps a bit and you enjoyed it
