It's only that layer but i have no idea what it is - may be cos I only have PS 7 too and you're using a newer version so I may not have the feature

Ah, that explains. I use CS3 and sometimes can't open CS4 psds The charachteristics of that layer: brightness +8, contrast +7.

    Stargate78fan, what problems you have?

tutorial for how to make this:

(this isn't really for the Dean half of the wallpaper, as that's pretty simple... but its for the Angel!shep part of the wallpaper.

    Spoiler:
start with this picture of John Sheppard.

    Coloring 1.psd

coloring: (which should be credited to phonography_x)
    Spoiler:
+ duplicate the base and set it to soft light opacity 100%
+ Curves: (opacity set to 50%)
    RGB:
    point 1: 53,105
    point 2: 128, 202

    + Channel Mixer:
    Red:
    red: 129, -35, -5
    green: -8, 104, 6
    blue: -60, 65, 100

    + Selective Color:
    red: -45, 34, -15, 23
    yellow: 21, 28, -32, -16
    neutrals: 18, 5, 8, 0
    blacks: 0, 0, 0, 100

    + Color Balance:
    midtones: 11, 0, 16

    + merge all layers

it should now look like this

+ create a new layer and put your wing brush anywhere (you'll be moving it later. i would recommend doubling it a couple times (so that its darker)

+ rotate the wing and place where you want it.

+ duplicate that layer and flip it horizontally, then place that on the other side.

+ you can merge those two layers if you want, either way, cut around John's body and erase any part of the wings that are covering him.

    + merge all the layers.

    should look like this.

    Coloring 2 .psd

+ coloring 2: (which should also be credited to phonography_x)
    Spoiler:
+ Curves: (opacity set to 50%)
    RGB: 154, 197

    + Channel Mixer
    red: 115, -10, -10
    green: 0, 100, 0
    blue: -55, 55, 105

+ Gradiant Map: black and white

+ Levels: (set to an opacity of 30%)
    RGB: 0, 0.57, 255

+ Fill Layer: #373939, set to Difference with an opacity of 42%

    DO NOT MERGE!

now it should look like this

+ Go to the Gradient Map and cut out around the wings, then erase and it will leave them with a blueish tint.

+ merge all layers and sharpen once or twice then add your text.

I also added this flame texture set to lighten, sharpened that once and merged everything again and I was done.

You know how you cut around John to erase the part of the wings that were covering his body... cut around the wings this time and just make sure that what you're erasing is the gradient map layer..... cause that's the part that makes it black and white... and when you erase that it leaves the rest of the wallpaper black and white, but the wings are bluish.

so here's the tutorial i promised Blacky - and i want to see results because it just took me 3 hours to write it

    how to make this:

i used CS4 and a photofilter earlier versions of PS might not have. but i included an alternative step for this one.

you can copy the colouring steps (including selective colouring) from the PSD
    Spoiler:

    1. Open a canvas 1280x800 with this colour: #c8c4af
    2. Add this nautical chart of Dutch Harbor as a new layer -> layer mode: linear burn, opacity 52%
    3. Paste the photos you want, I used 1, 2 and 3 -> set on darken
    4. Bland the images only there where the edges overlap each other and erase the parts of the chart behind their faces so the lines of the chart don’t disturb.
    5. New fill layer: #c73247, layer mode: soft light, opacity 18%
    6. New adjustment layer-> curves
    Spoiler:

    Rgb: 74>>58; 222>>173
    Reds: 43>>54; 155>>171; 229>>219
    Greens: 44>>35; 107>>99
    Blue: 56>>63; 211>>197

    7. New adjustment layer -> selective colouring
    Spoiler:
    tick the box for “absolute”
    Red: cyan: -41; magenta: +11; yellow: +42; black: +17
    Yellow: cyan: -46; magenta: -7; black: - 39
    Cyan: cyan: -100; magenta: - 82; yellow: -100, black: -100
    Blue: cyan: -61; magenta: - 100; yellow: -63; black: -84
    White: cyan: -25; magenta: -10; yellow: -21; black: -14
    Grey: cyan: -18; magenta: -7; yellow: -9

    8. New fill layer -> gradient map. I created my own, click here
    9. New adjustment layer -> photo filter ->cold filter, 25% opacity (or new fill layer with #006dff, soft light, 25% opacity – looks a little different though)
    10. New adjustment layer -> selective colouring
    Spoiler:

    Whites: cyan: -29; magenta: -18; yellow: +7; black: +24
    Greys: cyan: +3; magenta: -6; yellow: -6; black: +6
    Blacks: cyan: +54; magenta: +35; yellow: +30; black: +29

    11. New fill layer with #98875f; layer mode: darken; opacity: 49%
    12. Add this texture by shaded color and resize it to the whole canvas size -> layer mode: darken; opacity: 49%
    13. Open these textures 1 or2 by vikyvampirs90 -> invert them -> paste on the canvas where you like -> layer mode: multiply
    14. Also add some handwritten textures and set them on darken or multiply. I couldn’t find the one I used on my harddrive nor on the web, I’m sorry ?
    15. Add a new fill layer and fill it with black -< take the rectangular tool, mark and delete different areas around the faces of the photos -> layermode on exclusion (yep, it’s right that the layer is invisible now)
    16. New layer -> use nautical brushes like these with this colour #826c4b, layer mode: colour burn
    17. The word “harris” is written in angelic wars in the colour #140f09
    18. use outer glow on the text: colour #bba169, fill mode: screen; opacity: 100%, noise: 0%; technique: soft, source: edge; size: 1;
    quality: anti-alias; area:32%
    19. their names are written in #888161, font: olho de boi
    20. new adjustment layer-> selective colouring
    Spoiler:

    Yellows: cyan:+6; magenta: -8; yellows: -12; black: -25

    21. merge all layers -> paint daubs: size: 1, sharpness: 1

    and you're done
