    The Atlantis Project

Hi all, recently i did a post on building atlantis...so heres the official post.

I have named this endeavour: The Atlantis Project
and i have spent a while collecting images and drawing atlantis (i used good old fashion paper and pencil to do this, as my skills with computer imaging is limited to paint which cannot do much)

Heres a few pics and one of my drawings of the south-east pier(please excuse the obvious erasure lines, i had some trouble at the start), i have no clue what any of the building are.

    Spoiler:

Also be sure to check out the site which i will be updating soon

    Also seeking any help

It's a good drawing. But I'm wondering, does anyone know the approximate physical dimensions of the city? For example, the distance from the tip of the NW pier to the tip of the SE pier? We know Atlantis is big, but how big?

About 3.6 kilometers according to the latest scaling thread in SciTech.

Versus the 2.5 km of a Hive.

And I ask where did the SciTech get these measurements?

i think atlantis may be bigger than those estimates. In "Hot Zone" Sheppard says that they are in the gym, nearly a mile away from the control room.

                    1 mile = 1.6 kilometers

sheppard also says that they wouldnt be in any danger walking so i am assuming that the gym is not that far out along the east pier

not that is almost half of the estimates given, i found a site where the scaling was given at about 8km pier to pier, which sounds more likely. however this was done by meauring the control tower in comparison to a puddle jumper and then comparing another shot of the city lenght with the control tower

Actually I don't think the 1.6 km (or 1 mile) is inconsistent with the 3.6 km given earlier. The 3.6 is a diameter figure, so to speak, while the former is the radial distance from the central tower. 1.6 km would, I believe put the gym about 3/4 of the way to the end of one of the piers.

8 km is, in my opinion far too large. If that were the case then visually measuring this figure against the vertical height of the city, the central tower would be close to 2 km (or 1.24 mi.) high.

edit: I originally said 2 miles high. Meant kilometers.

well as far as we know from the series, the control tower would be approximately 300 meters tall, taking into account the ~70 floors equalling about 3-4 meters high and the gate room, jumper bay and jumper roof access tube which would be obviously taller than 3-4 meters.

that said the city could be no wider in diameter than about 1 km.......

mind you McKay complaining about having to climb the 60 odd floors DOESNT take into account and lower levels AND however wide the base of the city is.......

ALSO the screen shot i am looking at is on a slight tilt (in space) so the measurements would be a little off, that said does anyone have any idea how long the jumper bay roof access tube would be, the measuremtn i got was over 500 meters....i was thinking it would be more like 200 though...

I think I once heard a Hive ship is 11 km long, so... While the Wraith Cruisers are about as big as the Earth BC's, so 200 or 300 meters.
