I would say no disrespect to Carter because I love her, but if she wasnt one of the stars of the show it wouldnt make any sense that she could be that much smarter than some of these alien races that have been around doing thing for thousands of years..

is it possible? I guess.. I mean if we are talking in reality here then the entire show is tossed out the window..

but I can think of a handful of supporting aliens good or bad that SHOULD be smarter than the heroes of the show..

but then we would be watching something completely different..
