    Default Vega's situation, a bad choice?(spoilers)

    As we all know,
    Spoiler:
    Vega was killed
, For the 4 lines and 1 minute of screen time she got in search and rescue(which was supposed to be much longer but was cut for time constraint) and the 6 lines and 5 minutes of screen time in whispers, she became my fav character. She was very attractive and had the military female thing down pat. She was very believeable. Originally, she was supposed to become the female major lorne and would have a big part in episodes like search and rescue and would be a common reacurring character. Now
    Spoiler:
    shes dead.
Writers, what the heck, you wreaked a perfect character. You should have
    Spoiler:
    killed teldy, not vega,
and then let vega be in charge of the team. Any other opinions.

Is it a fact that she was supposed to become the female equivalent of Lorne, or just fan speculation?

This is Gateworld. There is no difference between the two.

I think the fan speculation was due to what turned out to be misinformation given out by Joe Mallozzi in his blog about Major Teldy and her supposed death in Whispers. He also talked a lot about Capt. Vega and I think he had already planned the switch in who would die, but wanted to lead the fans down a different path and then throw in the twist during the episode.

Unless it was one of the producers who said it, then it was still probably fan speculation.

Random characters die all the time.

Personally, I liked Teldy better. Not that the way it went down with Vega wasn't really rather weird though.

I'm not ashamed to admit I was psyched for Vega. She was hot and she brought something new to the show. What a waste.

I too was mad for vega,, loved her in S&R and whispers, she should not have been the one to go. First time round i hated Dusty and thought it should have been her, however after watching again i agree it should have been teldy!
im glad Porter didnt go either, its a shame we havnt got any more episodes for them to return in, unless they return in the movie ofcourse!

I actually didn't realise the one who died was the same one that was in Search & Rescue until I read it here. That's what you get when your entire team looks nearly exactly the same when you shoot them in the misty and the gloom.

I consider the Vega-death a big fat finger from JM himself.

I don't care much for her one way or another... As far as Whispers went, I could have done without that episode.

But one piece of advice - never fall in love with any of the side characters cause you'll be disappointed in the end.

I'd love to see a show with NO "hot" people in it at all.

Might encourage people to be less shallow...

    Re Vega,
    From JM's Blog

Spoilers about Season 5 episodes, love Triangles, and Vega's sexuality

    Spoiler:

And so, heading into the show’s fifth season, we were faced with the prospect of a love triangle, with two very different suitors vying for the gal. Further complications were suggested in the first draft of Search and Rescue with the introduction of Captain Alicia Vega who, in the episode’s final scene, essentially asks Keller out. The prospect of introducing a gay character to the Stargate universe was always an interesting possibility, but one that would require the right circumstances. ....
The character of Alicia Vega, meanwhile, did offer an opening that an established character did not: she was new and the final scene of the season five premiere felt neither forced nor insignificant. Of course, as Paul pointed out: “Do we really want to make this love triangle a love rectangle?”. Well, again, the decision was made for us when the episode ran waaaay too long and a good portion of Vega’s scenes, including the last one, had to be cut

Considering what happened to her then, perhaps it is for the best that was cut out.

    Spoiler:
Also they really love Keller if they gave her THREE love interests.
