    [QUOTE=Stargate78fan;10635819]Lovely icons, spacemonkey.

I really enjoyed the first season of Merlin and look forward to a second one. I rather enjoy the different view of this Merlin, as a young boy/man growing up with Arthur.[/QUOTE

yes, it's nice to see different things then normally shown.

Just watch the second episode. It's not as good as the first one but the preview for the third episode looks promising.

I like how they have some aspects of the Merlin/Arthur myth, but have a twist of their own. I do like the young actors who portray Arthur and Merlin. Anthony Head is great as Uther.

    Spoiler(???)~
    Spoiler:
I think the point of the episode was establishing a connection between Arthur and Gwen, wich was only hinted in season 1. I realise this is a an extremely lame comment: Awww, how cute! There, I said it

I lurve Anthony Head: he is one of those blessed actors who can have a line as trivial as " Pass me the salt" and it sounds as Shakespeare.

    I agree
    Spoiler:
I thought this ep was great, mostly because of the characters. The story was a bit meh, but they all did a great job in making me laugh and go awww I really liked how they handled Gwen and Arthur. It made sense.

Yes, he is an excellent actor and works extremely well with whatever lines he gets. I saw him in a Dr. Who episode with 10 Doctor (David Tennant). I didn't know who he was before until after I watched Merlin. He was awesome in that ep alongside David Tennant.

I think I saw him in Dr Who as well, but can't remember that well. I know him from Buffy. He was awesome in that

    I just watched ep 503.

I have mixed feelings about it:
    Spoiler:
On one hand, I am enjoying watching Morgana showing some moral ambiguity (sp?) on the other hand why does Arthur have to be so stupid? Why did he agree with his father's policy of taking no prisoners? They were attacking a village, that would mean genocide, plain and simple. Where is the honour in that?

Sorry about my ethic issues, I tend to ramble on those.
Well, they're trying to add some darkness and complexity to the plot, I guess.

Besides the issue with Morgana and Merlin as a couple, hey, look who is in love with Morgana's maid? Speaking from his own vast experience, uh

And managed to miss Giles? Maybe you watched the later seasons. Giles was Buffy's mentor, in similar way Gaius is to Merlin. So it's funny to watch him play the "Bad (?)" guy.

    Angel Coulby: The Handmaid’s Tale

One of the bigger changes to the Arthurian mythos in the BBC Saturday teatime Merlin show is its depiction of Guinevere, who far from being a noble lady, is Lady Morgana's handmaid. But, as actress Angel Coulby points out, it makes her journey to the throne much more challenging...

Thanks for that! Very nice interview

    Last weekend's episode
    Spoiler:
Liked it alright. But I was torn between Merlin telling Morgana about herself and himself.. I'm not sure what I really wanted him to do though. I thought his own battle in that was done very well

And trailer for next Sat's looks fantastic!!!

    today's episode:
    Spoiler:
Yay! I managed to actually be good despite Lancelot! I really didn't like him in series 1 so I'm glad this time it came out alright - probably due to the Arthur and Merlin nonsense, haha.

I do wish they'd stop findnig excuses why no one finds out Merlin is a wizard. Pllllllllllease stop dragging this!
Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

    Last night's ep
    Spoiler:
LOVED it!!! Funny between Merlin and Arthur, great acting from Bradley, liked Lancelot, could understand Gwen's feelings both ways, and just really liked the storyline and the way it played out.

I'm not sure if I want anyone to find out if Merlin is a wizard. I did wish it last week with Morgana, but with Arthur, I'm not sure.. I think it's too interesting to see Merlin doubt about it himself, and the banter between him and Arthur.

re: discovering Merlin is a wizard - I don't want one person to know it, as in, Arthur accidentally finds out and keeps it from Uther etc. I want it to be revealed in a huge, public way. Just one person knowing would soon be VERY frustrating - well, at least to me.

I'd really not want that tbh The whole premise of the show is Merlin struggling with it and keeping it a secret. That's what I personally really like. A revelation would mean so much trouble with Uther. And Arthur as well because of that. I'd think it's more likely Arthur would slowly get to know about Morgana, or getting suspicious and then finding out at some point about Merlin, but then knowing it's alright to know magic. But then in the next couple of seasons of course And all personal taste!

But you're right: one person only knowing would mean the same thing, as that would mean his hiding would be less as well, as he can always go to said person if he feels troubled. Meh

Can you tell I thought about this? LOL And as you say, it's all personal taste

I'm betting someone else will find out about either Merlin or Morgana by the end of this series and I'm guessing it'll be Gwen. Sort of like how Clark Kent's identity started slipping out in Smallville. The show has to go somewhere.

True, but I fear it'll go boring when they all know and it's out there.

Trouble with Uther does sound good though, I have to say...
