If you live in the US, yes. Same with Atlantis.
In fact, SG-1 season 8 might continue at around the same rate in Canada as in the US if Space keeps this rate of episodes...
As for Atlantis, while it's true that Canada gets the second half of the season before the US (like, we already started it) it's most likely due to us paying around 5-7 bucks a month for 5 channels...
Unfortunatly yes.Originally Posted by GhostPoet

does it have something to do with the fact that sg-1 and atlantis are made in canada? just wondering.
i dont know if i can wait till january. the only thing that can possibly hold me over are the monday night marathons on sci fi.![]()
I really don't know. All I know, it's unfair to us living in the USA to have to wait!![]()

Hey, Mitchell! You want a turn?
5 - 7 bucks for 5 channels? Thats quite a bit, they better be good channels, we pay quite less then that for sky, but most of the 70 channels in it are crap, so it probably works out the same for the good channels we get, then other channels like movies, cost £14 for 9, and £5 for Disney Channel. Also, the UK gets the second half of atlantis and stargate a month before the uk, 4 episodes ahead.

If this is true, RC, why haven't I seen any new SG-1s posted?
Because the Atlantis ones are from Canada and not the UK?![]()
Oh, yeah. As to why we have to wait, it has to do with the fact that the Sci-Fi channel knows that it can't compete directly with the big networks, so it tries to make sure that any time a new episode is shown, it is shown at a time when the networks are not airing new shows or holiday specials and the like. Which is why SG-1 starts in the summer, and then has a mid-season hiatus--you may have noted that the first week of s8 reruns was the week that the networks premiered their fall lineups. It was not a coincidence.Originally Posted by Daniel's_twin

Sorry, i said we get the second half a month before the us, so we WILL BE 4 episodes ahead.

Umm, yeah... Well, the five channels come with two additional channels now.
Here's the layout: 5 main channels for movies and special series (a lot of succesful HBO, Showtime and network-special presentation series [such as Atlantis])
2 "Oldies" channels, for older movies that are at least 10 years old.
The movies shown on the main channels are quite recent, their premieres are on average about 6 months later than the DVD-VHS release of a certain movie.
As for Atlantis being aired first over here, it's because they have a special deal with TPTB, they have ALL of the broadcasting rights to Atlantis in Canada, so they could very well crank out Season 2 of Atlantis at the rate the studio can finish up the episodes. Thing is, they just don't because of the convenience of airdates. They too are like SciFi, looking for ratings, but they don't have ANY commercials. That means they get their finances through the popularity of their channels. This also means that they keep the highest-rating series, while trying to find new, appealing, series to bring in more customers to their channels.
So, let's sum it up: I get new Atlantis eps 2 months before anyone else, PLUS they're commercial-free. Downside? I pay 5 bucks a month for it.
Hmm, I'll take that tradeoff.
Aww thats a pity, what about the UK does anyone know when it will start over here?
I thought Canada was still on season 7.
Apparently not.![]()

If you are talking about Atlantis it started 6 weeks ago if you have Cable or Satellite on Sky One. I don't know about terrestrial TV.Originally Posted by Jane
