"Major" Davis?

I really think it's about time they freaking promoted him to Lt Col. Like someone said Carter rose through the rank as did Simmons in the first season. as well few other minor charries. Then what's wrong in giving Davis a promotion???

I know Joe said few years back that they weren't going to give him a promotion, which I think stinks!!!

Nearly 10 years as a Major seems wrong. I was hoping he would be at least promoted once

Yes I agree that going from Major to Lt Col takes time, but f**king ten years

I don't have an issue with Carter overtaking him, they're working in different areas, but yes, by now he should be AT LEAST a Lt Colonel. I'd have hoped he'd be full bird, but that's now unlikely.

Reynolds started out a major in season 2 but he was promoed to Colonel but led SG3 was more active than Davis - is because he was more based in the pentagon - he only went on a couple of active gate missions - but I have to confess I am not great at recalling the details.

Being on an SG team obviously ups your chances of promotion when competing with those of the same rank. Regardless, Davis still performed his dutes as a liason officer and should've been promoted at least to Lt.Col.

I don't mean to say that I don't like Carter at all or have issue with her. I like her. That's the honest truth. She's great and deserved the promotions she got.

If that were the case... Both Major Davis and Chief Master Sergeant Walter wouldn't be in the AF anymore.

but see the problem is walter's father is has several important pentagon contracts and the pentagon wants to keep the dad happy so....they put pressure on them to hush it up!

You should be careful about jokes like that. Knowing the way this fandom loves its campaigns...

Besides, TPTB wouldn't bat an eye at oak leaves in the mail. I'm pretty sure they've received stranger things.

Sorry for the strange question, but in addition to way an officer serves, aren`t there age-related promotions? I am not acquainted with the ways of the US military, but I thought you hit Captain at about 30 years, Major at about 35, etc. I heard that in NATO forces ranks are limited by education as well.

Well USAF is a bit different than NATO. If you read a couple posts back you may answer your question. Education definitely helps you get promoted but there are no age restrictions.

May be I did not express myself correctly. I am not talking about age restriction. Let me explain better: if you are closing a certain age and a certain amount of years served, you have your qualification (in the Warsaw Pact usually the officers were sent for an education before promotions) and you are not promoted, that means you have done something wrong, you have reprimands etc.

I strongly doubt our major has any reprimands, otherwise he is not supposed to be in such responsible position. And yet he`s stuck with the golden oak-leaf.
