Default Stand down gentlemen, the CotG dialling out of the gate room problem is solved!

Ok, there are Continuum Spoilers here. Well.. One TINY TINY spoiler, but I don't intend to use tags so bugger off if you don't want a MINOR spoiler from Continuum...

    Still here?

    Sure?

    Your own fault then.

Ok basically near the end of Continuum Teal'c uses a small hand device on the gate in Russia to not only dial out but to power it as well. (I know after all that, how undramatic?). In any case, the way I see it, that scene has pretty much solved the supposed "plot hole" surrounding the way in which Apophus dialled out of the Gate Room at the start of Children of the Gods.

So.... hurrah. Rest easy, get some sleep, have a beer.... ah whatever.

but wouldn't Apophis and his soldiers be vaporized by the kawoosh of the stargate the moment it activated?
    or did they all duck?

Canon would say they had a DHD, but it was offscreen and moved in front of the gate after O'Neil (with one L) left.

i love that last line. the lack of enthusiasm amuses me. but yes, i cant believe i NEVER noticed the fact apophis was able to dial out the Gateroom without a DHD or accessing the SGC computers. i havent watched CoTG that many times tbh, so i've never really noticed. but yeah, that would make sense. although then you could ask the question, why in the following 10 years of SG-1 did we never see that device? oh wells

    Firstly it is Apophis

The device is also used at the start of the movie not just in that scene. There is no reason to think Apophis used that device. He could have used a similar device to that used in the episode 1969.

I think Klorel used the same device in an SG Comic.
