    Celebrity Paradox

The Celebrity Paradox is an implicit assumption which states that works of fiction don't exist in their own fictional universes, and neither do the actors.

We can hold it self-evident that the Stargate franchise itself doesn't exist on Stargate's Earth, given the portrayal of Wormhole X-Treme. However, what happened to the actors? Do Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, etc. exist in the Stargate universe, and if they do, how is the look-alike issue explained?

This gets even more confusing given that MacGyver exists in Stargate. Who starred in it? Richard Dean Anderson? Then why doesn't Carter notice his similarity to O'Neill? Or are we supposed to assume that O'Neill "really" doesn't look like either Kurt Russell or Richard Dean Anderson, invoking the Literary Agent Hypothesis?

But it does exist in it's own fictional universe.

    (That was easily solved.)

Stargate exists in the Stargate universe? What did I miss? Some kind of bonus episode where SG-1 watch Stargate SG-1 and comment on how unrealistic it is?

This gets even weirder when Star Trek actors guest star, while Star Trek itself exists in the Stargate universe as a TV show.

Sg1 must exist in the Sg1 universe, because Carter hummed the theme tune in the lift.

That's... wonderful and completely plausible logic. There's no way Carter could have just made it up on the spot, she clearly took it from the TV series which was never mentioned in itself!

SG-1 does not exist in the SG-1 universe, otherwise Wormhole X-treme would have been an X-treme case of plagiarism. The theme tune must exist independently of the show somehow.
If Algeria introduced a resolution declaring that the earth was flat and that Israel had flattened it, it would pass by a vote of 164 to 13 with 26 abstentions.- Abba Eban.

Yeah, maybe in SG-1 universe it's the theme tune for a soap opera

It's because she couldn't remember the tune for the Macgyver theme song.

But in that case who played Macgyver in the SG1 universe? If it was RDA then why does nobody point out the likeness between him and O'Neill?

I'm beginning to get a headache!

Does the Stargate universe also exist in the Uncharted territories of Farscape?

Farscape was a shared dream by Cam and Vala after they've eaten some rotten fruit off-world

Farscape apparently doesn't exist in Stargate either, given that Martin doesn't recognize Vala's pitch in "200".

                            Also, consider these oddities:
                            • Stargate and The Simpsons are mutually fictional. O'Neill is a fan of The Simpsons, and its episode "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore" features RDA and a Stargate convention.
                            • World of Warcraft contains references to Stargate, yet Dr. Lee plays it.
