Momoa might leave Atlantis

Jason Momoa is looking ahead to life after Stargate Atlantis. The actor, who plays the Satedan warrior Ronon Dex on the series, told SciFi Wire last week that he has about one more season in him.

The actor joined the cast of Stargate Atlantis in Season Two, replacing original cast member Rainbow Sun Francks ("Aiden Ford").

"[I] wouldn't say I'm sick of [Ronon] yet," Momoa said. "But one more [season], and I'll probably be good. I'm 28 now. I'll be 30. ... It's just time to move on, and I'll want to play something else."

By "one more season" Momoa probably means Season Six of Atlantis, since filming on the fifth season is nearly halfway complete. He also refers to being 30 years old, in another couple of years.

It looks like he is just leaving his options open in case SGA ends. He will be on for Season 6 if that is a go according to the article. After that it might be questionable who will stay or go. Season 7 of SGA is so far away a lot can change. SG-1 began their multiple cast changes after season 5, SGA has had only two back to back seasons with no change and that was Season 2 to 3.

Well Sheppard, Mckay, Teyla, Ronon, and Carson have been together for 3+ Seasons. So there is plenty of chemistry there. All of them are returning next season. I am not worried about Jason, because if SGA even gets to a Season 7, then will be the time to worry about the cast.

Yes, EXACTLY! He is talking about beyond Season 6. If we get a 7th season I will be estatic. I will then worry about the cast changes once we come to that bridge.

Ronon leaving could also make an opportunity for Carson to return full-time. They are writing Carson back into the show

Anyway, like I said above. Jason will be on board for Season 6 if they get the renewal. Beyond that, anything is possible.

Actually, assuming Joe, David and Rachel stick around, those four would have five years as the core team by the end of a sixth season.

What about Carson? He was there in the beginning. I can see them stepping up his role to maybe 8 to 10 eps.

Also, Ronon/Jason would be in Season 6. The article basically states when he turns 30 yo which would be the end of a Season 6 shoot.

What does it really matter if the actor wants to leave in 2 years? If there is a season 7 any number of things could have happened by then.

Actually, he sounds nothing like Michael Shanks. MS said repeatedly he would have loved to stay if Daniel had not been pushed to the sidelines of the stories, so that he had very little to do as an actor.

So not to hash this all up again, but MS never said it was time to move on just because some number of years had gone by or he'd reached a certain age.
