          Why?

MGM owns several casinos, including the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Reno:

          http://www.mgmmirage.com/

There's already the "Star Trek Experience," at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Perhaps MGM has other plans in mind for their Vegas casino as well, and the slot machines are only the first step in the nefarious scheme for global domination.

I think that it will be cool to have a go on the slot machines, not a big fan of them in general but would be a novalty to have a go on one about stargate.

"The Stargate Experiance" on the other hand if they made that would be very entertaining to go to i think.

The next time you take a trip to your local casino, don't be surprised if you hear portions of both the Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis themes playing softly in the distance.

Slot machine manufacturer Atronic recently unveiled plans to produce machines based on both Stargate series as part of a three-year licensing deal with MGM Consumer Products, according to a report from The Earth Times.

"Atronic is thrilled to add Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis to our library of licensed products. We are going to build on the popularity of the TV series by bringing the excitement and intrigue of the shows to the casino floor," said Ken Bossingham, the Chief Operations Officer of Atronics Americas, in a press release.

                    There's already a thread

                    http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?t=53820

but it might help it if the mods changed the title of the existing thread to "slots" (instead of slot) so it can be found on a search (blasted 4 letter limit!) and add 'casino' to the subject line too

G2E – Feeling the effect of recession?

                            21st November 2008

By Phil Clegg, in Las Vegas, US

The giant G2E exhibition in Las Vegas experienced lighter first day footfall than usual on Tuesday, November 17.

The stands of the big slot producers at the front of the hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center attracted good crowds, but things were much quieter towards the back. The consensus of opinion among exhibitors was that this could be the first visible sign of the worldwide recession affecting the gaming industry.

“The industry is entering uncharted waters,” said JCM Global’s senior vice president of operations, Tom Nieman. “It will be interesting during this show to see how the industry is reacting to the economic conditions. It seems that operators are hunkering down until the storm passes and this is affecting their buying.”

                            **snippage**

Atronic International had its biggest G2E stand ever this year and used it to launch several innovative new products. Among them was Stargate, based on the popular television series. This features three independent games that are linked to a five-level bonus system. “This has gone down very well in player focus groups,” said Atronic’s Sylvia Dietz. “The brand is the initial draw but the games have to stand up on their own and we believe they do.”

Atronic International launches Stargate SG1 at G2E

                              **snippage**

There was a host of new products, including Stargate SG1. This multi-bonus progressive link with three separate games is based on the popular movie and TV show. Its distinct bonuses summon recognisable features from the Stargate SG-1 series. The player must bet max lines and pace a side bet to trigger a bonus. Once triggered, one of the five bonuses is randomly selected. The games are housed in the brand new e2 Slant cabinet.

Aimed initially at the North American market, Stargate SG-1 will be available in the first part of 2009. It will get its European launch at the IGE in London in January. “This game has been received very well in our player focus groups,” said marketing director Sylvia Dietz. “The brand is just the initial attraction - the games have to stand up on their own.”
