what i liked about 'the way' series is that it started sam/teal'c (platonic) then moved slowly and believably into sam/baal. It seems natural that, over the course of 20+ years, they would grow into something.

I look forward to seeing how the story will wrap up, but i will miss it when it's gone. Because good sam fic is a rare thing anymore

I'm not sure what it is about the whumpy stories...but they are just on the edge of your seat wanting to read more kinda stuff...I think that's what draws me to the whump stuff...I love angst and drama too...and I also love the odd humour story...I do have a hard time reading the novella types though...if it's a really really long story, I tend to skip it...I just don't have the time to get stuck into something I know I won't be able to finish quick enough!...Oh...and I don't like apocalyptic fics at all...not that I'm judging the author...I just don't apocalyptic stuff. Sorry!

I do like reading Sam/Jack but define myself as a Sam fan, so enjoy reading all well written Sam fics. I've seen many people, shippers mostly, say thing like "I can never see Sam with Daniel ect" but as long as the relationship is written well, I don't mind her being paired with anyone.

There's a reason why shippers say that though...it's because that's the ship they ship...I'm betting that Sam/Daniel shippers say the same thing about Sam/Jack or Sam/Teal'c. As a Sam and Jack shipper myself...I love to read the ship fics...but I've also been lured to the Sam/Teal'c ship...but only to a very small degree...and only if Jack were unable to be with Sam. I am one of those who prefers to not read Sam/Daniel ship fics...but that's not to say that I haven't read them...coz I have read them...and I have been quite surprised at a few of them...but that is just me...I don't mind anyone pairing Sam off with others...I may not always agree with it but if it reads well then...you know...but I much prefer Sam/Jack...it just feels right.

I'm with you Mousie - I am pretty open to *most* ships (I have actually seen, although didn't dare to open, a Sam/Jacob *shudders*) -- to me it's more about the story and how the relationship unfolds. Is it realistic? Do the characters sound like themselves? Is the relationship there just for the sake of a PWP passage, or does it actually fit in with the story itself?

I personally can't write solid ships - I do flirting and innuendos, or it's there in the background, but that's about it. I've also written one little snippet where you're not sure who the pair is (no names used) -- actually, that one is interesting because I had a pairing in mind when I wrote it, but others who read it think it's a different set (both involving Sam, funnily enough)!

Sam/Jan, yes, any kind, friendship od slash I don't mind, as long as it's well writen

Sam/Cassie, I've always seen Cassie as Sam's adopted daughter, so any fics along that line I wanna read, but slash will be like Sam/Jacob ship, which honestly I also find a little disturbing.

I tend to read only Sam/Janet but lately it is hard in getting new stories, now mostly it is Sam/Vala, what I don't mind either though...

I have quite a few Sam/Jan saved on my laptop that are excellent, which is why I was asking ... but I'd have to go and find live links for them again...

...and yes, Sam/Cassie as slash is just oh so very wrong. Except one I read where it was AU and instead of Hathor escaping early in Season 1, the host was killed -- so she took Sam as a new host, and Janet became her ... um ... can't think of the word, but special highup slave, until they came across Hanka and Sam-as-Hathor discovered Cassie and decided to replace Janet with her as it would really annoy Nirriti ... not that there was actually any graphic descriptions, so it was all good. Actually, that was just a really good story - I'm going to have to find that one again

Yes I love Sam/Jan slash or friendship (but slash is best )
Cassie/Sam definitely no slash, its just wrong to me but friendship or mother/daughter fics are good

Yeah I'm the same and also Sam/Dan as a couple I find hard, although I have read a few good ones. As long as the fic is well written, has a good plot and has been beta'ed or at least spell and grammar checked then I'll read it.


What about OoC fics with Sam, do folks like reading those?

I do, as long as there's a good plot reason for it and it gets explained properly and not just glossed over, sometimes I like to read Sam where she's slightly, or not so slightly, errr, how do I put it, unstable....not so in control as she is in cannon.

I do read Sam slash fic but wouldn't read Sam/cassie.

I don't usually go for OOC fic as they can be too Mary sueish (is that the word)? I've seen a few OOC stories that are mostly the author inserting themselves in the fic and "ooh look, the team are the characters, and by defacto, my, best friends now"

I have read a few good Sam/Other stories, such as Sky's Erik stories. Another that I like is the Light, Water, Muse series by Shatterstorm. It is Adult, femslash and each 'book' covers different characters from different shows although many cross between each story. Initially the main relationship is Janet/OC but develops to Janet/OC/Sam (there is also some Sam/Makepeace)

The best Sam/Other slash I've read is the "Worlds Collide" series by Geonn. It's a very well made crossover with Law & Order: SVU.

There are four of them and they are all ADULT fics.

Unless we are reading different stories there isn't the slightest bit of femslash in it, it's gen. The only thing I can think of is that you are basing your comment on the first line, but all it details is Janet's attempts to resussitate Sam.

IIRC Tricia doesn't write femslash.

Ah, Sam/Thor. As an anti-shipper I remember thinking what the heck?! when I saw a Sam/Thor thread and just had to check it out. I found people with a great sense of humor. We had quite a bit of fun with that for a while.
