    Lame season ending

Ok I know I am going to get mauled for saying this but I’m sorry, this whole episode was totally lame.

Its like the writers just wanted to do a bunch of cool stuff but not have to put any thought into it.

Problem 1: Phoenix shouldn’t have got beat down like that

The very first time you ever see the Daedalus it stood toe to toe with 2 hive ships plus their escorts, and survived… And that’s without Asgard Beam weapons!!! Now you have a new ship, (that I have to believe has at least slightly better upgrades then that Daedalus now that the Odyssey is around to be studied) and it got beat down by 3 Hives with no escorts. I mean come on!!!! The Asgard beams can take out an Ori ship and a Replicator ship in just a few hits. So it should take even less on a Hive. The Phoenix could have totally just charged 1 Hive, blow it up in a single pass, and then book it out the hole in the blockade... Yes, yes, I know the weapons got knocked out. But it took several barrages for that too happen. Couldn’t that Phoenix have fired anything in that time? We are only talking a couple of hits on the nearest target here…. Just seems like it should have took way more pepper to take down the Phoenix.

Problem 2: Woolsey as the next leader

OMG Woolsey?!?!? What were the writers smoking when they thought that up??? Both captains of the Apollo and Daedalus are eyeballing that command position and would be far more qualified for the job. And even if the IOA absolutely had to have a civilian in charge, why wasn’t it Daniel Jackson? For like the last 3 seasons of SG1, Jackson complains how he isn’t off in Atlantis. Now there is an opening as leader of Atlantis and some how Woolsey is more qualified then the foremost authority on the Ancients? Yeah, I'm sure there would have been practical issues with getting Michael Shanks to guest star. But we didn't absolutely have to see him. It could have been just stated that Jackson was in charge during Mckay's narration. Clearly the writers just wanted an excuse for Mckay and Keller to get pissed and leave... But why Woolsey?!?! Anyone else would have made more sense then Woolsey! The writers were just getting lazy on that one.

    Problem 3: Replicator Weir

Where the hell is the Replicator Dr Weir in all this? Ok, yeah, I am just assuming that was a replicator Dr Weir in the last scenes of “Be all My Sins Remembered”. But, that that was a very replicator looking ship she was on, so I think it’s a safe bet. Anyway, assuming it is a replicator, why aren’t they getting involved? If the Replicators can kick a united Wraith’s teeth in, why can’t they take down Michael?

    Problem 4: The Odyssey

So for what I gather from Mckay’s erratic stories, eventually Michael become so much of a power that earth abandons the Pegasus galaxy. Right? Well in all that time why didn’t someone just take the Odyssey over there and beat the snot out of Michael? Granted I have yet to see Ark of Truth so for all I know it blew up. But assuming it survived, why didn’t someone come up with the idea of taking it over there and moping up the wraith? I mean, it if can fight off wave after wave of Ori ships, there is nothing that Michael could possibly throw at it that could take it down. And there has got to be something in the Asgard core that could cure that Hoffen drug. I mean this is the Asgard for crying out loud! Once you got gray there is no other way!

There were a few more things bugging me but these are the main ones….

I mean the over all idea of the episode was cool. I was just really disappointed in how it went down. Those big “OMG!” moments that the writers were clearly going for (especially that part about Carter dyeing and being replaced by Woolsey) were just contingent on things happening that didn’t really make sense given the Stargate world as I understand it.

*sigh* Come one writers! Up the par a little!

I can tell you why it wasn't Jackson though.

Because Jackson isn't a commadner, he ahs no experience being a commander, he's never shown himself to be capable of being in command of anything. He is at the bottom of a very long list of candidates.

Woolsey was chosen because he's the IOA's Atlantis rep.

        Spoiler:
And personally i'm really looking forward to him in season 5. We saw a hint of it in the Last Man, his reluctance to withdraw and obey the IOA's demands. I think it will be really interesting to see how he tries to balance the IOA's demands with whats right.

Indeed. I'm expecting lots of conflict between him and shep.

Shep will use his "I'm raising my voice this is inexcusable grr" tone once or twice and then they will end up in an arms-length mutual respect relationship and every so often after that there will be a subtle Sheppard-Woosley bonding scene in the vein of "that guy isn't so bad after all *inward smile*".

I could actually just write out the entirety of season 5 right here but I don't want to "spoil" it for everyone.

Yes, that stuff you made up in your mind is surely distasteful. How dare the TPTB you imagine in your mind be such hacks. You should get your mind cleaned.

I completely agree with you on the basis that the season finale was such a pointless episode. Nearly like, 'It was all a dream' thing.

Finales are supposed to go out on a bang and leave you yearning for the next season. But this didn't do it or live up to its predecessors.

Thoroughly disappointed and if people really believe this season or finale was excellent, well I think the writers won't listen or wake up and just like American films - we will have mundane, unintelligent writing to surf our entertainment.

I loved SGA - really loved it

Well, I thought it was exellent, except for the ending - but everything else was great, imo.

I have a lot of things to say. I was thinking about which one to use so I'll share them all...

                      1. If this is the future, Thor must be turning over in his grave. What happened to being the hope for the future...

We left millions of humans at the mercy of an egomaniacal monster.

                      2. Does this mean that if Shepard takes time off the Galaxy goes to hell...

Shepard disappears and the Galaxy ends up being a Michael's sandbox..

                      3. Who was stupid enough to leave Atlantis intact...

The Ancients were smart enough to submerge the city to keep it from the Wraith. Wier was planning to blow up Atlantis in the Siege.

                      4. Why didn't Michael look for Atlantis in the 40,000 years he has dominated the Galaxy...

sweetsamurai. Your right. Maybe the writers were hoping LM to build up the kind of threat Michael will become. He cleaned house he beats everybody. Why didn't Todd win or at least survive. Grrr.

I think Dr. Beckett said that, should the body cells of the Wraith be able to continue to regenerate (suck the life out of humans), they aren't dying of old age... Aka they are immortal.

Michael doesn't regenerate any more. It doesn't mean he only has 60 years of ruling the galaxy to go, but I think we can assume 48,000 years later, Michael is dead?

It would indeed not have made sense if Atlantis was still standing with Michael around. We never knew when they retreated from Atlantis, either.

                        In Loving Memory of Wraithlord.

I wish I got to know you better.

lol - exactly - you liked it (wish I did) except for the ending. Which confirms my point. As I've been reading on the other posts - not many people liked the ending scene - which is the only real part to the plot - that isn't good.

Finales should have those endings when you get a shiver down your spine and your mouth is left wide open.

This ending has no suspense. We know Sheppard and Mckay survive. They will get beamed out or brush rubble over their clothes - wow - great stuff.

                          I'm always right, lol

I agree about SHeppard going missing and the Galaxy goes loco. I don't think so. Todd is clever - he would create an anti-hyrbrid hoffings vaccination. Something or someone would stop Michael because good always beats evil in the end!
