The writers’ strike is now officially over. So, it’s back to business for cable and broadcast networks — many of which last week announced production and launch dates for new and established scripted shows.

But cable networks will fill their summer schedules with original scripted series. TNT will return The Closer and Saving Grace sometime between June and September, while Lifetime’s Army Wives will return in June.

Well, that's interesting. I'd kinda been hearing some rumblings to that effect, so I'm not that surprised. But as you said, this hasn't been officially confirmed yet, so I guess we'll wait for the SciFi announcement.

That would mean only about four months to wait for S5 though. I'm all for that, as long as they don't give us another seven month midseason break.

Yup, I'm all for a summer premiere ... But I would hate a long mid-season break

And Joe DID say that it'll be a tight production schedule. I think the only reason for that would be a summer premiere...If the second part of the season premieres in January, and not March or something, I'm all for it!

Yeah, that comment caught my attention too. He was answering a question about whether JF would be able to work on WMC, wasn't he? (which might be a moot point now - it's questionable whether that show's getting renewed ).

Marla writes: “Joe F. had done two episodes of Women’s Murder Club while on hiatus. Once the writer’s strike gets settled, will Joe be able to continue his role on there, since you guys will be in production by then?”

Answer: Once production begins, Joe will be very busy on Atlantis. This season is going to be very tight schedule-wise.

Answer: The decision on the season 5 premiere date rests with SciFi. However, I’m hopeful that fans won’t have to wait until the Fall to see the resolution of our season four cliffhanger.

hells yeah, thats a short break..I'm all for that espeacially if they actually get SGU off the ground this year, maybe by a fall season I'd love to have year round stargate, I don't care what anybody says fan or not having two stargate shows on the air was absolutely lovely

I think the July/Summer premiere sounds pretty accurate. Like I keep saying. Eureka has been pushed back.

The question I have is would people rather have a long break (6-7 months) between seasons with only a month break between first and second halves or start in the summer and have a minimum 3 month break in between ep 10 and ep 11? I personally would prefer the way season 4 has been scheduled with the break from March to September between the seasons.

After what the ratings have been doing for the 2nd half in S4, SCI FI would be crazy not to continue that.

Well, I don't see how that would work, unless they air it all before the year is over. No, it'll be at least a 2 month break at the mid-season mark.
