That said, there's no denying that the NJO storyline was the inspiration for my own, albeit with many different twists and characters.
This is true. Although I never actually finished reading the series... I ordered it from libraries through my local library, but no one had the last book. So eventually I just gave up on it and I still don't know how it ended. Hmm... Internet. I will look.

((And now, the season finale of Stargate: SG-1!))

    11x20 "Amazing Grace"
Synopsis: The Ori crusade comes full circle when Adria lays siege to Chulak, and the Milky Way prepares for the ultimate showdown as the war's greatest heroes and villains clash in one final battle.
    Spoiler:
When the Ori attack Chulak once more, Earth sends its ships to assist in its defense, with SG-1 aboard the Odyssey. Along with that, the Nox dispatch a duo of their crusiers to help.

The battle group drops out of hyperspace to find a dozen Ori motherships, and several new types of support craft, decimating the Jaffa fleet in orbit. The Nox/Earth vessels enter the fray, but it quickly becomes clear that even with Asgard technology, they're no match for the Ori.

(Long space battle ensues, about 20-30 minutes)

The Asgard defenses around Chulak (set up in "Shore Leave") open fire, but they, too, are not enough. The Ori ships take out the planetary canons from space, and destroy the orbital ones just as quickly. The Nox mothership is surrounded and destroyed, and the Odyssey loses its shields.

Seeing that they're about to be destroyed, Col. Sanders beams SG-1 onto the Aurora just as its sister ship is dealt a crippling blow leaving it dead in space. Unable to get enough room to jump into hyperspace, she brings her ship in for a landing on Chulak, setting down near the capital city.

SG-1 meets up with Bra'tac in the Jaffa Senate building. Apparently, they're trying to evacuate the planet as quickly as possible, but it seems unlikely they'll escape, considering the ever-growing population of the new capital. Ori fighters begin sweeping down from above, engaging death gliders and al'kesh the Free Jaffa had garrisoned there.

As the Milky Way forces are being destroyed, an Ori ship takes up a position over the Aurora and fires at point blank range. The 304's shields fail and it takes serious damage. The other Ori vessels prepare to bombard the city itself, where SG-1 and Bra'tac stand facing off against just-landed troops...

But then the enemy army vanishes. In a flash of light, the Ori ships disappear, along with the troops and fighters. Beside the team, a group of glowing humans appear... no, not humans; Ancients. They tell Daniel that they, at last, see why Oma ascended him. He was right, and the time to join the fight has come. They used their collective powers to send the Ori forces back to their galaxy, save the mothership Adria is on (as they cannot fully compete with her now that she has ascended powers herself).

The Ancients say that they know of one thing that could end the bloodshed. A device called the "Ark of Truth", then vanish. They are off to engage the Adria themselves in the higher planes, to distract her so SG-1 has a chance to end this once and for all.

Amazed, SG-1 returns to Earth, their homeworld united for the first time in history. Landry welcomes them home and informs them that the President has declared all 5 of them heroes of the state. As they file out, Daniel turns and smiles at the gate. At long last, it's over.

At long last, the war is won.

I have over eighty episodes, the vast majority of which have received amazing reviews and are read by dozens of people every day. This thread is the most-commented and most-viewed in the entire FanFiction forum by a mile, so clearly I'm doing something right.

On another note, Season 16 will not be some unfocused add-on, for those wondering with the tombstone spoiler. The plot continues, and as I recall, there's this other race out there who don't like the idea of the Alliance very much...
Aschen, i guessed it the second i seen the pic for season 16 on the first page

In regards to the pictures... they're just a scene from each season. They have nothing to do with what happened in the actual episode that the shot is taken from. So the "2010" scene really has nothing to do with the events of "2010" itself, it's just what an upcoming moment in Season 16 will look like.

it ended when Coruscant was liberated and the New Republic reorganized into the Galactic Federation of Free Alliance or Galactic Alliance(short name) ironically within less than 100 years the Imperial Remnant(Galactic Empire) retake the galaxy

Not really, though, since it's kinda the Sith behind the GA's downfall.

They've actually written books that take place nearly a hundred years into the future? The furthest I've seen (canonical or non-canonical) are the transcripts of episodes 7-9 (which is against canon, or at least it goes against the NJO series- Anakin is alive in the last trilogy), or the series after Dark Nest (which I haven't read btw).
But it doesn't really surprise me that the Empire retakes the galaxy. If I remember correctly, their space wasn't even touched by the Vong.

Not entirely true... the Vong decimated Bastion, the Imperial capital world, but besides that, the Remnant was largely untouched. Besides, the GA was a fragile and weak government since its inception, less federalized than the New Republic and a lot less able to defend itself, given the effects of all the wars that plagued it.

    15x20 "Left Behind"
Synopsis: Maj. Eaton is stranded offworld following a mission-gone-awry, and finds herself forced into a game of cat-and-mouse with the Der'kal with limited supplies and ammunition.
    Spoiler:
On P1X-833, SG-1 is escorting a survey team back from a successful run into the naquadah-rich caves a mere kilometer away from the gate, satisfied that they've found a new place to mine the mineral from without native or alien competition. Since the planet is uninhabited, there won't be any quarrels with indigenous peoples, and because no other galactic power has a previous stake to the area, Earth can harvest all the resources they'll need free of charge. With all the gloom and doom of late concerning the Nox mass-suicide ("Pyrrhus"), it's nice to get a lift like this, even if it doesn't change the grand scheme of things.

As they approach the stargate, one of the survey team members suddenly pads himself down, remarking that he thinks he forgot a few of the vials with samples of the cave naquadah back at the dig site. Sighing, Vala mutters that she was really looking forward to being able to just go home after a long day on the job, and Mitchell reluctantly prepares to turn the group around to retrieve the forgotten test tubes. But Eaton, pulling out a digital camera from her vest pocket, says that she'll run back and grab them, pointing out that she runs a very quick mile or so. Daniel offers to accompany her, but the Major insists that she can handle herself on just a short jog, and Jackson relents, tossing her a digital camera and telling her to snap a few pictures of the local plant life on the way back, to add in to the biological portion of the survey. Snatching it out of the air, Eaton tucks the camera away in her pocket and unclips her P90, handing it and her vest to Mitchell and saying she'll be back in five minutes or so. With that, she springs off, leaving the others to take a break in the shade.

A few minutes later, Rebbecca arrives at the cave-side dig site, finding the sample vials on a rock nearby, still in their protective sling. She pulls it over her head and hangs it off her shoulders, then pulls out Daniel's camera and begins taking a few snapshots of some close-at-hand plants. Looking up, she brings up the device to take a picture of an overhanging tree, but sees an strange dot in the display. Frowning, she tries to scratch it off, but apparently it's part of the image. As it slowly begins to grow larger, she zooms in as much as she can and waits for the display to focus... and when it does, she gasps, as the group of Der'kal gunships have drawn close enough to be identified now. Immediately, she goes to grab her radio, but remembers a second later that she gave Mitchell her vest so she could run faster. Swearing under her breath, she puts the camera away and sets off at a dead run for the gate.

In orbit, a Der'kal fleet is dropping out of hyperspace, mostly consisting of smaller frigates, corvettes, and transports, with only a single cruiser escorting the large group, further evidence that the Nox's sacrifice truly dealt a terrible blow to the alien armada. But down on the surface, the bright mid-day sunlight completely hides their arrival, and SG-1 remains blissfully unaware while they wait for their fourth member to get back. Mitchell is dumping some pebbles out of his boot while Daniel and Vala talk about a new restaurant that's recently opened on Dakara when one of the surveyors glances skyward in time to see enemy gunships heading straight for them over the treetops. He shouts out a warning just as the first pelts of green plasma slam into the ground around them, and the group dashes for the treeline as the enemy craft fire down at them and prepare for another pass.

Daniel takes advantage of the momentary lull by running to the DHD and punching in Earth's address, activating the portal and sending through his IDC. The surveyors begin to run toward the wormhole, but Vala shouts that they can't just leave; Maj. Eaton is still out there. Mitchell is torn for a moment, wondering what the Der'kal are doing here and trying to think how they can make this work, but the sight of an alien corvette quickly descending from orbit makes his choice for him. Pushing the civilian team toward the stargate, he tells everyone to get through now. He'll wait for Eaton himself, but they're only going to have seconds before that corvette lines up a shot, and he can't risk them all just standing here like one giant target. He watches the others all disappear into the event horizon, then raises his weapon and scans the approach to the gate, praying that Rebbecca will appear just in time. Unfortunately, though, she doesn't and the corvette shoots off two bursts of energy aimed directly at Mitchell's position. Cursing, he hurls Eaton's equipment as far as he can, then turns and dives through the stargate, barely escaping death as the area where he was standing is blasted apart.

At the temporary ISGC in New York, Cameron comes crashing through the gate, landing heavily on the ramp and ordering the iris closed. The metal shield comes up just in time, too, as a few dozen thuds are heard, no doubt from bombardment slamming into the Ancient device itself. Coming down from the control room, Col. Taylor asks what happened out there, and where Maj. Eaton is. Still listening to the thuds from the gate, Jackson explains that the Der'kal just showed up out of nowhere and made a beeline for their position, no doubt intending to bury the stargate as soon as possible. Eaton had run back to the caves to collect some forgotten samples, and she just didn't make it back soon enough to escape with them. Realizing the implications, Taylor sucks in a breath, muttering that she's completely on her own.

Back on 833, the Major herself is approaching the stargate, listening to the sound of plasma digging into the earth and watching the debris being kicked up as it arches over the top of the nearby trees. She still has a fair bit of distance to cover, but even from here, it's clear that the energy being pounded down on the gate has almost certainly buried it by now, preventing her from being able to dial out to safety. She stands there watching her only real hope of escape disappear, then glances around for any sign of the Der'kal and darts back into the forest, determined to figure out some sort of plan.

Several hundred feet higher up, a Der'kal gunship is sweeping the area for any sign of the Tau'ri. Its pilot brings a thermal sensor online and scans the ground immediately below them, but the heat-trapping properties of the local flora make any readings next to useless. Behind him, another warrior is establishing an uplink to the cruiser in orbit, reporting to his superior that they believe a member of SG-1 may still be here; they spotted Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, and Dr. Daniel Jackson when they made a run on the stargate, but they did not see Maj. Rebbecca Eaton, the human female who caused so much trouble for them on occupied Earth ("Earthfall"/"Interludes"). Since the portal itself is now inaccessible, she must be somewhere on the planet itself. The alien commander in orbit tells them to find her and bring her in, alive if at all possible, but also reminds his subordinates that they do have a rendezvous to make. Time is always of the essence.

As the gunship flies off, continuing its search pattern, Eaton watches it depart from the top of a nearby tree, breathing hard and trying to get her bearings straight now that she's off the natural path to the naquadah caves. She can see a few more gunships landing near the stargate's location, doubtless dropping off troops to come after her, and reaches down to check that her service pistol is still securely holstered at her waist. Grimacing, she slides down the tree trunk and pulls out her gun, quickly but carefully advancing through the woods back toward the caves.

In New York, Taylor is on the phone with Dr. Talbot, attempting to secure authorization for a rescue mission to P1X-833. Danielle, though, still bogged down with her new duties at the old UN complex, is reluctant to risk a ship flying into a possible Der'kal armada just to extract one person, even if it is a member of SG-1. Sighing, she says that she's starting to see things she never did, even working as a diplomat for the United Nations what now seems like a lifetime ago ("Shatterpoint"); it's not about what you want to do, it's about weighing the odds and weighing the lives, and in this case, she just can't do it yet. If they can produce evidence that it won't be a suicide run, and that there's a reasonable chance of getting Eaton out alive, she'll OK an operation. But until then, it's out of her hands.

Frustrated, Taylor hangs up the phone and turns to face the other members of the SG-1 team, all of whom can guess from his expression what Talbot's answer was. Daniel offers to cross-reference the maps they have of the area around the stargate to look for probable places the Major may take refuge in, and Vala promises to contact the Lucian Alliance and get a scout ship over to 833 as soon as possible. When they head off, Mitchell opens his mouth as if to add his own idea to help, but just settles for saying that he "needs to be somewhere..." and departs. Collapsing into his chair, Taylor wipes a hand across his face and grabs the phone again, only pausing for a split second before dialing a new number.

On 833 itself, Rebbecca is nearing the naquadah-rich caves, able to see the entrance just beyond the edge of the thick patch of trees she's hiding in. Looking around to make sure there aren't any enemies in sight, she stands and prepares to dash across the brief bit of exposure, but tenses and pulls herself back just before the edge of foliage when she hears a noise from above. Crouching down, she looks up to see a new gunship lowering into the small clearing in front of her, and her spirits sink upon seeing another patrol being deposited to sweep the area. Eaton swears, retreating a bit into the darkness offered by the overhanging timbers, and tries to think of a new strategy. She needs more weaponry if she wants to survive, and she seems to think that the caves can offer her some advantage. Glancing up, she suddenly gets an idea, and pulls back a little more as the Der'kal begin to look for her.

The warriors are alert and ready for a surprise, but they fail to notice a figure slowly moving across the thickest and longest branch of an overhanging tree directly above them. As such, when Eaton wraps her legs around it and hangs down, pistol in hand and with a clear shot on each of them, they're next to helpless when she guns down two of them with ease, filling their heads with bullets before they can react. The third warrior is a little quicker, getting off a few precise shots that singe by the Major's location, but he falls just as quickly in the end. Knowing that it won't be long before more warriors approach, alerted by the sound of gunfire, Eaton jumps down from the tree and grabs what she can off of the fallen soldiers, picking up two plasma pistols and a belt plasma grenades before sprinting off into the caves. Behind her, though, the third Der'kal she felled is stirring, not dead quite yet.

(More of "Left Behind," see previous post for beginning and next post for end.)

    Spoiler:
Once inside the safety of the naquadah caves, Eaton goes directly to the vein of mineral that the researchers had been working at and pops open a few of the empty vials from their sample pouch. She scrapes as much of the substance into the tubes as she can with her combat knife, but has to be careful to avoid sparking given naquadah's energy-amplifying properties. Thankfully, a few minutes of careful work later, she has every vial filled to the brim, caps them off, and sticks them back into the pouch, slinging it over her shoulder and getting ready to get out of the dark-enclosed area. She turns to run, and lets out a small yell when she sees the not-quite-dead Der'kal lumbering down the tunnel at her, bringing its arms up to maul her across the face. She reaches down and yanks out her service pistol again, getting off two bullets, but her startled reaction results in a rather poor aim, and the shots just stick uselessly into the alien's chest armor.

Diving to the ground, Rebbecca manages to get under the warrior and kicks up, propelling him into a wall and buying her a few more precious seconds. She takes careful aim with her gun, lining up a headshot, and pulls the trigger... but nothing happens! Checking the clip, she realizes that she's our of bullets and tosses the pistol aside, instead yanking out one of the energy weapons she grabbed shortly before and finally killing the Der'kal with a flurry of green plasma bursts to the back. Then, remembering that she still needs to clear out before someone comes looking for the dead warriors, she scrambles to her feet, picks up the supplies she dropped, and books it out of the caves, darting back into the trees just as two gunships approach from the opposite direction. Another close getaway, but how long can she keep this up?

In orbit, the Der'kal fleet is still floating above the planet, with numerous ring transmissions blinking between various craft as officials head between ships to discuss important matters. One transmission in particular appears between one of the frigates and the command cruiser, and in the latter's ring room, an elegantly-dressed alien official is arriving. A small honor guard of elite warriors are there to meet him, and quickly escort him down several hallways to the bridge, where the ship's crew stands at attention. Even the captain of the vessel appears nervous about this meeting, and with one of the Exarch-representing te'kal dropping by for a visit, it is a tense time, indeed.

The te'kal, looking annoyed with the state of things, strides over to the command console and demands to know why they have yet to re-enter hyperspace for the rendezvous coordinates. All of the ships in the fleet they're ferrying have had ample time to cool down their engines, redistribute supplies, and exchange appropriate personnel, so he, and by extension, the Exarch, is very curious as to why they have no yet broken orbit. Notably irked that his decisions are being questioned, the cruiser's captain replies that they believe that a very prominent and valuable human combatant has been stranded on the world below, and capturing her could yield a wealth of information crucial to the war effort against the infidels. He has dispatched a group of his best warriors to the surface to find her and bring her back, and plans to—

But his superior cuts him off mid-sentence, roaring that the human is of no concern now. The Exarch has new plans to put into action, and any information this female could have is of little use to them now. The captain, baffled, insists that she could be in possession of details of Alliance defenses and logistics, but the te'kal does not care. He orders the captain to recall his men immediately, and once they are aboard, to lead the fleet into hyperspace for their meeting with other elements of the armada. Saying that he will be watching very carefully to ensure his orders are followed to the letter, the te'kal turns on his heel, motions for his honor guard to follow, and departs the bridge, leaving an infuriated but confused captain to his thoughts.

On the surface, Eaton is watching from afar as the Der'kal around the entrance to the naquadah caves try and figure out how she was able to take down three warriors at once so quickly. After a moment of letting herself enjoy the satisfaction, though, she jumps down from the rocky overhang on which she was watching from and begins the trek back toward the stargate area, skirting around the alien presence as much as possible. Hopefully, she'll be able to find a still-working DHD and activate the gate, relying on the energy cortex to clear a path into the event horizon. It may be a bit of a longshot plan, but it's the best one she has right now.

She doesn't get far, though, before she runs into something worth stopping for; a small waterside clearing up ahead is occupied by a Der'kal gunship, one seemingly without its complement of warriors or pilots. Intrigued, Eaton picks up a rock lying nearby, weighs it in her hand, and hurls it as hard as she can at the side of the craft. The rock strikes and makes a loud bash sound, but no one comes rushing out of the forest to attack her. Rebbecca stands thinking for a moment, obviously wondering if this is some kind of trap to draw her out, but decides that she's not going to get another chance like this. Keeping her two plasma pistols in hand, she makes a break for it, and leaps up inside, keeping alert for any sign of enemies. And yet, there doesn't seem to be anyone in the cockpit, either, and Eaton slides into the pilot's chair at once, powering up the primary systems and checking the status of things like engines and weapons.

In keeping with the luck SG-1 members typically have, however, she glances up a second later to see an alien patrol emerging from the treeline, and powers down all the subroutines she had going at once. There isn't enough time to fire up the thrusters and get out of here before they'd be on her, so she'll need a new course of action... not seeing any other choices, she slips into the very rear of the gunship, sliding in between the bulkhead and a gun rack and praying that it's enough to hide her as the Der'kal board the gunship and prepare for takeoff.

On Earth, the rest of the team is having mixed successes; the Lucian Alliance only has one scout ship within a day of P1X-833, but it's on a covert gunrunning mission to a planet still dominated by a power-mad lesser Goa'uld. Daniel's analysis of Eaton's strategic options, however, offer a few clues as to what her likely plan would be, and if she keeps doing the smart thing, she should be able to use the dense foliage to stay hidden nearly indefinitely. Standing in a small conference room, Jackson, Vala, and Mitchell suppose that this won't be enough to get an OK from Talbot for a rescue, but it may be the beginning of what they need. Colonel Taylor, entering from the hallway outside, adds that he's just gotten off the phone with someone who has the authority to get around that little blockage, however, and says that if Rebbecca can stay alive for just a little while longer, she'll be okay. Mitchell asks what in the world he's talking about, and Taylor explains that he can't give away any of the details just yet. But he does ask them to trust him on this one, assuring them that the best of the best is on its way.

Meanwhile, the gunship Eaton has stowed away on is gliding over the forest, continuing its designated search pattern. The Major is breathing as quietly as she can, peering through a crack in the gun cabinet's siding to watch the quartet of warriors standing a couple of meters away. Her stolen plasma pistols are still in hand, her finger wavering near the trigger in case she's somehow spotted, but for now it looks like she's in the clear, as the aliens appear to engrossed in their task to notice her. Suddenly, though, something changes; a message comes in for all ground forces to abandon the search, return to their vessels, and make for their carrier ships immediately. Confused, Eaton glances out a small window down at the planet, and begins to wonder what she's gotten herself into when the surface fades away through the clouds to be replaced by the cold, hard vacuum of space.

Her gunship makes its way to the command cruiser, flying into an aft hanger otherwise empty of ships and sets down in the middle of the chamber. Eaton watches as the warriors and pilot all disembark, heading through a nearby doorway and into the larger vessel itself, then quietly slips out of her hiding place and follows, being careful to watch for any sign of other aliens in the area. Looking back into the hanger, she stares out at the massive group of craft floating outside, and decides that if she's ended up here on the cruiser, she might as well try and make this window of opportunity worthwhile. Still keeping her weapons at the ready, she heads off into the bowels of the cruiser.

After a good bit of sneaking, Eaton happens upon the engine room, and, after checking to see that no one's around, she palms the door open and heads straight for the control area. Thanks to a rough knowledge of the Der'kal language, gained largely from her time in the human resistance on Earth, she manages to navigate a few screens to a subroutine dictating the next set of hyperspace coordinates in the computer. She hits a button and the display darkens, illuminated a moment later with a white-hued map of the galaxy. A dotted red line runs from what must be their current position at P1X-833 all the way to what looks like the area where the invasion began three years ago at P9X-335. It looks like that's the final destination of this little fleet, but that just leads to more questions. For example, why would this many ships, very useful to keeping intruding Alliance ships at bay, be heading to a place that hasn't seen combat since the war began? It just doesn't make sense.

Tapping to another screen, she sees more red lines appear on the map, and realizes that she may have just found the entire armada's movement records. But before she can attempt to do anything further, the screen goes blank and an alarm begins blaring, evidence that the Major's inexperience with hacking has probably tripped a security measure. Cursing her luck, she exits the display interface to try and hide what she saw and rushes back into the hallway... bumping into two Der'kal technicians in the process who instantly start shouting for guards. Eaton runs in the opposite direction just as green plasma begins to whiz by from the warriors coming down the corridor, and she mutters that she would be idiotic enough to throw away a perfectly good intelligence-gathering opportunity.

(End of "Left Behind," see previous two posts for beginning.)

    Spoiler:
Turning a corner and setting off a dead run, Rebbecca fumbles for two of the plasma grenades she stole earlier and thumbs the activators on them, then tosses both them and a few vials of collected naquadah behind her. Just as the group of Der'kal warriors rounds the corner after her, the grenades explode, and the naquadah amplifies the blast just as expected, causing an explosion that rips clean through to the decks above and below and completely obliterates her pursuers. When she sees blast doors closing ahead of her, she repeats the trick, and blows through the thick metal with ease, knocking down two of the warriors waiting for her on the other side. Unfortunately, the other two open fire on her, and Eaton ducks behind an exploded piece of blast door for cover, trading the grenades for pistols and returning fire as best she can.

While Eaton struggles to fend for herself, Colonel Taylor is receiving a phone call at the makeshift ISGC from the UN. He picks up the phone to hear Danielle Talbot on the other end, curious to know what he thinks he's doing circumventing protocol like this and using the tiniest loophole imaginable to disregard her standing orders. Ignoring the question, Taylor instead reminds her that when she was commander of the ISGC, she would have gone to any lengths necessary to bring back her people, and gently adds that perhaps she's getting a little lost in this bureaucratic mess that is the reconstruction process. Sighing, she admits that she is getting a little wound up by her position, then sighs again and says that she'll overlook this incident and keep it out of the People's Assembly. No one need know that the ISGC is, as always, acting independently of any attempt to control it, but perhaps that isn't as bad as everyone seems to always think it is. With that, the two hang up, contemplating that final remark.

Light-years away, Eaton manages to gun down the two warriors ahead of her, only to look back to see several more leaping over the ruined floor behind her and coming her way. She brings up both her pistols and starts shooting wildly, all the while steadily moving backwards down the hallway. She reaches down for another grenade, but sees that she's used them all up now. Thinking quickly, she grabs the pouch containing the other vials of naquadah and hurls it down the hall, taking careful aim as she does so with the other arm. Just before the bag hits the floor, she fires a single blast into it, and the resulting explosion is enough to toss all the warriors into the wall, stunning them and buying her the time she needs to get out of there. Tucking the pistols away, she darts off for the hanger.

Upon arriving, she leaps into the closest gunship, ignoring the alien technicians on the upper level, fires up the engines as fast as possible, and shoots out of the bay, closing the side and rear compartment doors and spiraling for the planet below. For a moment, it looks as if the Major is finally in the clear, and she adjusts her heading to take her directly to where the stargate used to sit. But then she sees the corvette that headed down there earlier is now coming back up the gravity well, only seconds away from firing range. As her gunship plunges into the atmosphere, Eaton only has time to suck in a breath of surprise before the corvette fires, blasting the rear of her craft to bits and tossing her clear out the cockpit window before the entire thing explodes in a brilliant fireball.

Falling through the air now and hurtling toward the ground, Rebbecca watches the corvette roar past her and make to rejoin the rest of the Der'kal fleet. With no way to slow or stop her rapid descent, she resigns herself to an ugly, but thankfully quick, end, and closes her eyes...

...just as an Asgard transport beam appears around her and whisks her away. Suddenly materializing onto the MBP-305 Jupiter's bridge, she slams heavily into the floor, crying out from the pain of freefall suddenly averted, and looks up to see Col. Samantha Carter smiling down at her from her command chair. Eaton breathlessly asks what in the world she's doing here, and Carter, while ordering all forward weaponry to lock onto the Der'kal fleet directly ahead of them, explains that Col. Taylor contacted her soon after SG-1 was forced to evacuate without its final member. A regulation of the Free People of Earth from when it was based at the Beta Site gives the commander of humanity's space fleet jurisdiction over said ships in emergency situations, and it was enough of a loophole to allow Sam to violate Talbot's decision not to embark on a rescue mission.

As the enemy ships begin returning fire, Sam taps her radio and asks for a medical team to get up here to treat Major Eaton's injuries, then orders the Jupiter into hyperspace and headed for home. After all, they can't take on a fleet like this by themselves, and their task is finished anyway. For now, the Der'kal are getting off free, but next time they meet, it won't be like this. The 305 finishes turning around and opens a hyperspace window, then fires off one last missile at the Der'kal and jumps away, safe.

Some time later, Eaton is recovering in the ISGC's infirmary, with Dr. Lam telling her that she has a fractured rib from slamming into the Jupiter's floor like she did, but is otherwise going to be just fine. Rebbecca thanks her for the assurance, and Lam gives her a smile, patting her arm and leaving to give her some privacy. Up above in the observation room, Taylor, Mitchell, Daniel, and Vala look down on the Major as she tries and gets some sleep, discussing the information she passed on to them before being treated; this fleet was heading for P9X-335, the exact planet where the invasion started ("Shatterpoint"). Vala doesn't quite understand, considering that it's been completely untouched since Zanous Garrin's fleet and HQ complex were destroyed there, and it has almost no strategic value whatsoever, being a bit outside the Milky Way itself.

Whatever the reason, Mitchell thinks that they should check it out, and Colonel Taylor agrees. But unfortunately, the new government elections are coming up in a few days, and this will have to wait until they're finished. This is a big time for Earth, and they need to focus their attention at home for a little while. Staring down at the injured Major Eaton, however, Daniel wonders aloud if the galaxy really has the time to wait. And as to that, no one really knows.
