What do you guys think of Nikola Tesla?

What do you guys think of the scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla?

    He's one of my heroes.

I've been reading up on his life and inventions and there's just so much
stuff he has made. Sorting through what is fact and not fact is also
a chore but it's been interesting.

I still wanna know why some of his patents are being held as "state
secrets" by the USA. Seems like a slap in the face to a great man..

How different our world would have been if he had become more famous
and Thomas Edison had not received the fame he had been given.

Very true. Nikola Tesla was a great inventor, a genius in his time. I have a book on him and it made for a very interesting read.

I keep reading that on websites. What's the book you have I have
been trying to find a book about him and his inventions?

And howcome way back then they had wireless electricity and we can't

The name of the book is "Tesla: Man out of Time" by Margaret Cheney.

As to the wireless electricity, I'm not sure, although my brother (who knows MUCH more that I ) mentioned something about it screwing up a lot of our devices. I think. Or interfering with them. Anyway, it was something to that effect.

Must be some kind of EMP thing...... the massive transmitters you
would need to do wireless electricity would create a kind of EMP.

But had we had 100 or so years to develop it I'm sure most of the
          problems would be solved.

            random topic ftw?

anyway, it was Tesla who leveled up to AC electricity while Edison was still noobing around with DC. Made it possibly for long range transmission of electricity as well as a simple way of stepping up or down voltages (transformer). Also, made it hell better for industry too since 3 phase AC Induction Motors are much more efficient to run than DC motors.

also, Tesla Towers are fairly prime. specially when you charge them up with tesla troopers and make them even more pwnage.

Didn't he invent remote control stuff way before it was commercialy
viable in the mid 20th Century?

Didn't his lab burn down and all his notes about wireless electricity was lost?

I'm not sure..... The lab burning down was in the movie "The Prestige"
but not sure if that really did happen.. I know there was no love lost
between him and Edison in real life. They were rivals..

But I do keep reading that in the years of WW II some of his ideas
were looked at and later made classified to this day. At least that
is the claim made on a lot of Tesla websites...

isn't there a huge conspiracy theory that he invented a giant death ray and it's being held by the U.S. government? and wasn't he a touch on the crazy side? who cares though, he was the true inventor of the radio, not Marconi.

Yes that's been mentioned on tons of sites about him too.

Actually a particle beam weapon of some sort, and not just
theoretical if you believe some of the stuff written about him
                            and the invention.....
