Stargate Audiobooks!

I don't really know what rock I've been living under, but I am just learning about these audiobooks. I'm sorry, but I don't have the patience to read through this entire thread (though I did start). I live in the USA and I'm wondering:
--How much is it in U.S. dollars to purchase CDs, download and subscribe?
--The extras (interviews with actors) - are or aren't available via download? (I know download is cheaper, but I might pay extra for cool extras.)
--In the various posts I did read, I noticed grumbles about downloads not being available to subscribers by the appointed date. Is this still going on?
--Everything is audio, right? None of the extras are actually video? I have never understood what you can play on your DVD player from different regions and such!

I'm so excited by the prospect of more Stargate and more of these actors I love (Michael Shanks, Teryl Rothery, Claudia Black, etc.). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

First off, most of the information you need can be found at the Big Finish Productions website here.

If you go to the Big Finish site and set up an account, you should automatically get the prices to display in US $; if not, drop them a line at sales@bigfinish.com.

--The extras (interviews with actors) - are or aren't available via download? (I know download is cheaper, but I might pay extra for cool extras.)

I believe that the extras are only available on the CDs; but if you purchase a CD, you'll get the digital download too, free of charge.

--In the various posts I did read, I noticed grumbles about downloads not being available to subscribers by the appointed date. Is this still going on?

Releases from Series 1 and Series 2 should be immediately available once purchased; Series 3 will be available when they are released later in the year.

--Everything is audio, right? None of the extras are actually video? I have never understood what you can play on your DVD player from different regions and such!

It's all audio material, no video. You don't need to worry about region-specific stuff at all.

Another update...

Big Finish's free downloadable magazine Vortex (issue #39) features a behind-the-scenes article on the upcoming Stargate SG-1 audio dramas (http://bigfinish.com/vortex/v/39).

I can't wait as well, which may is it gonna be released because its nearly the end of the month and on the big finish website it says only "out in may" I'm glad there are new stories though and I enjoyed them before my favorite is gift of the gods and the one with Vala and Daniel, as well as perchance to dream

Got my download and my CD's arrived in the post yesterday...have loaded them onto my MP3 player and will be listening to them either at night in bed or on a couple of car journeys we'll be making over the Jubilee weekend...

So very nice to hear Michael Shanks' lovely voice again...he really is great for audio books....

I've listened to the first 2 episodes (I'm pacing it and not doing them all in one go) and I've thoroughly enjoyed both of them. These full cast ones are a lot better than the 2 actor ones of the previous series and I hope they continue to do full cast episodes.

Well worth picking up for £25 quid guys!

Episode 3 has perhaps the funniest opening to anything Stargate

I'm really enjoying the new audio books, it's great to have something new to listen to again.

However I think I've found an error! I was listening to Track 03 of Half Life when I heard Colonel Olssen order an airman to contact Major Hunter on the Sun Tzu.

Now this might be wrong, but from what I remember and just re-read on the Stargate Wiki, the Sun Tzu was introduced in 2009 and Half Life is set in during Season 10 of SG-1 (2006-2007). This sounds like an error to me. Any thoughts?

You're talking about the first time the Sun Tzu is mentioned on screen. There's nothing to suggest it wasn't on operational duty well before that point.

I guess you could say it was operational before it was mentioned on screen.. however I enjoy a good debate and as a hardcore fan I have to disagree. lol.

Your story is supposedly set during Season 10 of SG-1, yet Vala mentions that Mitchell and Teal'c are on an undercover mission with the Sodan and we know for a fact that the Sodan were wiped out in "Arthur's Mantle" the eighteenth episode of the ninth season of SG-1. We also know for a fact that the Korolev was the latest battlecruiser introduced in "Camelot" the twentieth episode of the ninth season and that the Apollo was the next battlecruiser put into service in 2007, not the Sun Tzu, which would not be heard of until two years later, in 2009.

So clearly there is no way that the Sun Tzu could exist in the same time frame as the Sodan, as there are too many years set between them, it doesn't make sense. lol. No worries though mate, it’s still a great story and it looks like so far I’m the only one to pick this up. lol. Looking forward to what you’ll write next!
