    I agree as well, but what about smaller ships such as fighters, scoutships and bombers?

    Scoutships, bombers fighters, civilian ships, dropships, cargo ships, shuttles and all the can be part of the voting process but due to thier small size they are practically free from being selected, we have the ability to build those ships without even worrying about the price. Cept fighters and Bombers which are a big part of our arsenol.

    However i cant really make sense of that table so i will try and explain what i mean by it. In 3.0 our place in the universe has changed, our fleet is the same size, roughly in terms of individual units but its composition is going to be much different. This will allow new classes and ships and technologies to be implemented, the finances for this will come from the destruction of the Adnihlo, the war bounty from their destruction was significant, on all their worlds and ships they had mined and gathered resources, which we had plundered and sought out (the people we rescued directed us to the vaults holding these resources). We have the resources to rebuild and restructure our fleet, we have the technology to build it quickly. We also have the technology to upgrade it significantly. However because each class could end up with 3 ships representing it (in 3 different roles, Ie Daedalus would be the support BC, Dante would be the defense BC and another ship would become the exploration BC) there could be a quite complicated voting and submission process. Which would require alot of very high quality specs, from my initial read through, to fill up every class with a ship, in each roles, we would need 39 different ships. Only 13 of which currently exist. Thats 26 new vessels in our fleet. But they would all be of much lower numbers. Wheras in 2.0 the 13 vessels had hundreds of units, only dozens could be produced of each class for each role. The current numbers would not be affected of course, so older ships would outnumber new ones significantly. But we would end up with a much more diverse fleet with a range of skills and areas of specialization that nobody has matched. Which would need to be matched in the submission of ships for the voting process as well.

    What do people think? Seriously because there could be alot of ramifications by taking this system, alternatives would be nice?

    What's with designating defense and offensive fleets? I mean, you can put a bunch of ships in reserve or something and say it's a defense fleet, but I don't like this. Just organize it similar to the US navy. Have commands for different areas of the galaxy, designate fleets that are parts of those commands, make task forces for specific things..stuff like that.

    what i reallt hate about these fleets is that thir so EXTRMLY cluttered.
    too much stuff. we should try to keep it simple and original, go back to the basics for 3.0.

    not a bad idea actually big ships with specific roles, medium ships with multi roles, and small ships for what they were desgiend to do.

    Uhm..well first, you'd have unified command thingers which command forces from more than one service and are responsible for operations in different parts of the galaxy. All the branches serving in its area of responsibility are under it's command. For the navy, you have naval commands, which are responsible for operations in different parts of the galaxy and are made up of fleets, task forces, and type commands. The fleets and naval commands don't do independent operations, along with the other services they provide the forces the unified commands use to do whatever it is they're doing.

    Just thinking of weapons wise, Could you put a missle platform that once the coordinators in place go into the same dimesion as the device we found in Arthurs Mantle. Just a thought.... Also what about a carrier that has a Ancient satellite beam weapon as the main weapon..

    arthur's mantle was made by an unascended anchinet(remerber how smart those guys were), i don't think we cou;ld make one small enought(or cheap enough) for missle use.

    and before we star pulling classes out of thin air, we should first think what something is gonna do and then make a class for it.

    eg. destroyers are suposed to hunt down submarines, carrieers exist because they can struke beyond the horison via fighters. there is no horison in space so we r gonna have to figure out what it's gonna be for. the deadalus carries fighter for defence. maybe the space carrier will act more as a repair & rearm platform for ships.

    Destroyers are supposed to escorting bigger ships, which is what they do in the fleet. Carriers can use fighters or bombers to pwn our retarded enemies who usually lack point defense weapons and also use fighters.

    if they don't use PD guns but have fighters why not sne in a battleship, they can't shoot down our missles but their fighters are useless cuz we got PD guns.
    my point is space is a different enviroment, wet navy rules don't translate evenly into space.

    We havent used Merlins technology in the fleet, and Unending actually alot of S10 didnt happen in the fleet universe. As to the Satalite beam weapon, Gaias beam is based on that weapon therefore its in the fleet but it wont be going on other ships unless someone can give us a good reason for it to be there.
