No, this Andrew Mark Sewell guy owns it now. He & Paul Darrow were in talks about a contunuation of the series but that all came to nothing when they had a big falling out. Paul Darrow wanted to go the way that Terry Nation had envisaged but this Sewel chap didn't agree.

Then Sky expressed an interest and commissioned some scripts but that all came to nothing as well.

I would *love* to see a Blake's 7 revival, in any form. I watched it when it was brand new TV way back when, it was the first show my parents and I bonded over. I still rewatch occasionally.

I could never get into it when it was airing on UKTV.

But I would not mind seeing a revival the story had potential. Unfortuantly only thin SKY ever seem to do is commission scripts, it seems they never get around to actually producing anything.

I binged through this a year or two ago myself and it was a fantastic series. If there's one series I'd like to see freshed up and remade it would be this one..

Some fantastic characters for sure. Avon, Blake and Servalan were mine.

Loved the episode where they thought they were attacking the super secret federation super weapon only for it to turn out to be an empty room Servalan put there specifically as a deliberate honey pot trap.

The only thing that held the series back was the budget and wonky effects. It's one of the major reasons why I think it could be such an epic remake so long as the soul of the original was preserved while the modern effects were added.

                Blake's 7 - Archangel

                http://bigfinish.com/news/Blakes-7-A...Book-Announced!

Big Finish is proud to announce the second book in the new series of original Blake's 7 novels. Written by Scott Harrison and set between the TV stories Trial and Killer, Archangel finds the rebels trying to move on from the horrific death of crew-member Olag Gan.

When an old friend of Blake’s – believed to have been murdered five years earlier by the Federation – is discovered alive in a labour camp on Sigma Minor, the rebels decide to mount a daring rescue attempt. But the talented cybernetic engineer Blake once knew is a shadow of his former self. His memory has been wiped, his family are prisoners of the Federation, and his name is inextricably linked to a sinister project known only by a codename: Archangel.

Archangel: An ultra-secret experiment so dangerous, so horrific, so terrifying that it was shut down by the High Council and ordered never to be reopened... until now.

This time, death may be the Liberator crew’s best option.

Scott Harrison is a writer and playwright whose stage plays have been produced in both the US and the UK. As well as contributing short stories for the popular time-travelling voodoo cult Faction Paradox (originally created for the BBC Books Eighth Doctor range) and for both the Steampunk and Horror genres, he has also written comic book scripts, audio scripts and for various eBook and audiobook collections. He is range editor for the Modern Masters of Audio series (produced & directed by Neil Gardner) and is currently writing for and editing a new Steampunk anthology for Snowbooks, where he is absolutely thrilled to be working with legendary Blake’s 7 scriptwriter Tanith Lee.

Scott is thrilled to be part of this exciting new range as he has watched Blake's 7 all his life. 'I hope to make the novel as breathtakingly exciting as each of those 52 TV episodes have been for me over the past 30-plus years,' he says. 'To be invited by Big Finish to be a part of this range, particularly at its outset, is surely every writer’s dream, not to mention a huge honour.'

Archangel is available for pre-order now, along with the first book in Big Finish's Blake's 7 novel range: The Forgotten, by Mark Wright and Cavan Scott.

Jacqueline Pearce returning to Blake's 7 audio dramas

                  http://www.atvtoday.co.uk/index.php?...ci-fi&Itemid=5

Actress Jacqueline Pearce is set to reprise her iconic role of Servalan in several new Blake's 7 audio dramas.

SFX reports that the actress will return to the world of Blake's 7 to play Servalan in B7 Enterprises new audio series The Liberator Chronicles. Servalan will make her first appearance in the audio drama Wolf, written by Nigel Faris, on the second volume of The Liberator Chronicles which will be released later this year.

Jacqueline Pearce's portrayal of Servalan won her a legion of fans and is still the character most associated with her. Servalan was originally intended as a one-off male character but the plans were changed and Pearce impressed producers with her performance and the character became a series regular. Servalan was power-hungry, devious, manipulative, greedy and murderous - she wasn't beyond committing genocide to achieve her goals.

Edit - I've also seen a tweet from Steven Greif saying he had just completed some recording as Travis. Great news!

                    OMG!

Martin Campbell And Georgeville TV Shop Reboot Of Cult U.K. Sci-Fi Series ‘Blake’s 7?

                    http://www.deadline.com/2012/07/mart...ries-blakes-7/

EXCLUSIVE: Georgeville Television, an independent TV studio co-founded recently by Leon Clarance of Motion Picture Capital, the financing arm of Reliance Entertainment, and producer Marc Rosen, has teamed with feature director Martin Campbell (Casino Royal) to revive the cult 1978 adventure/sci-fi series Blake’s 7. Writer Joe Pokaski (Heroes, CSI) will pen the re-imagining of the original series created by Terry Nation, a prolific UK TV writer who also created the Daleks for the classic BBC series Doctor Who. Campbell is attached to direct the Blake’s 7 reboot, which is being shopped to U.S. networks.

If, like me, you grew up in Europe in the 1980s, there is no way you haven’t heard of Blake’s 7, which was hugely popular in its native Britain and across Europe where it was better known than Star Trek at the time. Widely considered a cult classic despite no-frills, low-tech special effects, Blake’s 7 ran on BBC for four seasons. (See the show’s title sequence below.) Referred to as “The Dirty Dozen in space,” the series revolves around a group of criminals convicted and given a harsh sentence who, en route to pay the ultimate price for their crimes, get a second chance. These criminals without a code will gain a calling — the opportunity to become most unlikely, but most sorely needed heroes of their time.

GVTV has secured the rights to the Blake’s 7 franchise from rightsholder Andrew Sewell and his company B7 Media with funding provided by MPC. Campbell, Pokaski, Clerance, MPC’s Deepak Nayar and Sewell will executive produce.

A quarter of a century after Blake’s 7‘s launch, it still enjoys a fan following: Several years ago, Sky1 announced a remake but scrapped the plan in 2010. GVTV’s first series, Neil Cross’s Crossbones, received a 10-episode order at NBC for midseason.

                    -----

I honestly don't know what to think about this. It might be good, it might be rubbish or it might never get off the ground(once again). We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Interesting News, Let's see how this develops

I personally think this would be a good partner to falling skies on TNT, i mean as long as they do the reboot the right way

Given the track record of British shows remade for American TV I am pretty worried. There's all sorts of things that could go wrong or be changed. Would the emphasis still be on the characters rather than special effects? Would we still get to see Avon's slow mental deterioration? Would Blake still be convicted on trumped up paedophile charges? And as for the final ending.... We know what a shock that was, would they still keep it? The more I think about it, the more worried I get.

They been trying to do this for years, the main issue was the lack of money, but it seems they now have the financial clout to make a go of the series.

A new space scifi series is much needed, hopefully this is successful

If by some miracle the reboot goes for more than 4 seasons i wonder how it would play out would they take from the extended universe aswell (ie audio books/graphic novels etc etc?)

I suspect it will be like BSG, it will be the same universe with the same characters and have familiarity about it but at the same time it will be completely different.

Hopefully they will not go down the all soup of opera route but more like firefly/Farscape/SGU route.
