What happened to the DHD?

What ever happened to the DHD from Solitudes?

Solitudes is the episode where Sam and Jack are stuck in the Antarctic with the second gate. That gate has a DHD. So we have 2 gates and one DHD.

In the course of the series the Russians end up with one of these gates and we learn that they have their own DHD that that was found during World War 2. In the episode 48 hours we borrow the Russian's DHD to save Teal'c. How come we didn't use our own, what ever happened to the DHD from Solitudes?

If I recall correctly, its last appearance was in 'Touchstone', it was in the truck. The NID had taken the gate from 'Solitudes' that had been put in storage, replacing it with a fake, and the DHD of course. It was in '48 Hours' that Sam said that the DHD had stopped working shortly after they got it back from the NID in 'Touchstone'. I suppose it finally gave up due to its age and after being frozen for so long then subjected to heavy use by the NID for their covert operations.

The DHD from 'Solitudes' was out of power, but in 'Touchstone' it was used to activate the gate. The DHD from the 2nd, as far as I can tell, was lost in a plothole. Other than that, it could have been "destroyed."

The russian DHD (#2) blew up (electrical short) in '48 Hours' when they were they recovered Teal'c from the Stargates buffer

The Original DHD from Antarctica ran out of power. The Giza DHD was taken by the Nazi's in WW2 and the Russians got it from them after the war. This one blew up in '48 Hours'.

Sam: "The one found with the Antarctic 'gate died shortly after it was brought back to Area 51. It was used a few times and then just ran out of energy. That was the first indication we had that the power sources fueling the 'gate technology have a limited life span. We've run a number of tests comparing the power source to other off world DHDs. We think we now have evidence that the 'gate we found down there is one of the oldest in the entire system. It could be as much as 50 million years old."

But didn't they get a bunch of DHD's from Baal when he was stealing all those gates in "Off the Grid"? I know the gates were used in making the Carter-McKay Intergalactic Gate Bridge. I can't remember if they took the DHD's as well. They could've come in handy, atleast for research.

Im pretty sure he only collected the gates, good question though.

No, he took the DHD's as well. Remember, he was doing it so he could start his own little gate network with the auto-update feature disabled, to keep his little network out of the main network. And, the DHD disappeared when I think Daniel went to dial out. So did earth take those too, or just the gates? Would make sense to take both, that way Earth could do the same thing Baal was trying to do, but for good reasons. Plus, we know that some planets that we would like to be able to go to didn't have gates. And, the DHD could be used in an orbital space stations that had gates, if need be.

He took a few DHD's but in the Cargo Hold there was 1/2 from what I remember, was not many compared to the amount of Stargates he had

That is was I thought originally but I cant remember anything or have seen any posts to support that theory.

If I am wrong as it is the one from Solitudes then it clears that up nicely

I don't think a DHD from another planet would work with Earth's gate anyway, because the point of origin wouldn't be the same symbol.

Serpent's Lair Disagrees with you. Apophsis' ship held Stargate works quite well using earth as the Point of Origin.
